Wednesday Word - SHARING

THIS WEEK – During our Come and See (R.E) activities the children have been listening to Psalm 131 I trust you God. Just like a baby safe and snug, being carried in a mum’s arms. So I can rest in your love. So gently held. So lovingly held. So good to be in your care. I will rest in your love for me. We have also been thinking about what God says “You are precious to me, I love you, I know you, I know your name. You are my child.” The childrenhave made clay circles with their thumb prints on ready to take home at the end of the topic. The children have also been thinking about what will make our classroom a happy place to be – we will be using their ideas to create a display. During literacy we have been looking at rhyming words and having a go at orally blending and segmenting simple words as part of our baseline assessments. During Maths the children have been looking at creating patterns or continuing the teacher’s patterns as part of our baseline assessments. During the afternoons we have been thinking about how we are all different and have been using our senses within the areas. The children have created a texture collage and have been using words to describe them.

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for all your objects to help with our senses week. This week we are sending home a page from your child’s learning journey file. We would like you to write your dream for your child whilst they are here with us in the Foundation Stage. It may be that you want them to be happy and make friends, or that you wish them to reach their full potential and enjoy learning, or it could be that you want them to be safe and happy so that they can learn and be the best that they can be. These dreams are personal to you and what you want for your child whilst they are at school. Please return them to school on Monday so that we can put them into your child’s file.

Next Week – During the afternoon we will be thinking about all the things we have learned during our topic and holding a celebration on MYSELF which will include this learning. We will be thinking about who we live with and creating books in Literacy about My Family. During maths we will be looking at adding 1 more and making a number 1 less. In the afternoon we will be looking at our school environment and going on a walk around school to look at some of the areas that will be important to them during the school year. They will be involved in creating a model of these areas using found materials.

COATS – Due to the large number of children wearing the blue St Oswald’s coat it is very difficult to distinguish one from the other unless they have been clearly labelled with the child’s name. Something parents have done in the past to help their child to recognise their coat is to attach a key ring/ribbon to the zipper. This has been very useful at play times and home times. Parents have also done the same with the pump bags just by adding a ribbon to the string making it easier for the children to find.

PROGRESS AND CITIZENSHIP AWARDS - Each week we give out certificates for Progress and Citizenship. These will be sent out on the following Monday with the children.

This week the awards go to:-

Progress Award – Class 1G – Josh Bailey Class 1K – Madison McLoughlin

Citizenship Award - Class 1G – Chloe Smith Class 1K – Shay Jordan
