Job title: Volunteer Development Officer
Reports to: Suffolk Fundraising Manager
Responsible for: Volunteers
1. Main purpose of job
To be responsible for recruiting, training and managing volunteer fundraisers across Suffolk/
To focus on managing and building on existing volunteer led activity, specifically collections, collection tins, , volunteer speakers and event volunteers, to grow income.
To Identify and implement new volunteer roles across Suffolk to support fundraising activity and to grow income. They will also provide support for volunteer recruitment activity across the wider region.
To ensure all volunteers feel supported, empowered, have the essential materials and skills to carry out their roles effectively and ultimately have a great experience throughout their time with us.
To be an ambassador for volunteering both internally and externally.
2. Main duties/responsibilities
· Working with the Suffolk Fundraising Manager and Head of Community Fundraising to own, deliver and grow the number of volunteers undertaking income generation roles across Suffolk.
· To manage the recruitment of all new volunteer roles across Suffolk. Utilising all channels including attending external recruitment fairs, working third party recruiters, existing supporter communications, social media and websites.
· To be responsible for the induction, training and support for all volunteers in the county, making sure the correct procedures, policies and process are followed and your volunteers have the equipment and materials they need to carry out their roles effectively.
· To ensure all volunteer activity is carried out in a safe and legal way.
· To ensure effective communications with all your volunteers in line with the overall volunteer communications plan.
· To support other EAAA fundraising areas with volunteer recruitment, when required.
· To monitor, evaluate and report on the volunteer activity on a regular basis. Including ensuring all volunteer records are up to date on Raisers’ Edge and that income targets are achieved.
· To be a champion for volunteering internally and externally.
· To be responsible for dealing with any issues or concerns related to the volunteers you manage, including difficult volunteers or situations arising from the work of our volunteers, ensuring the best outcomes for individual volunteers and EAAA.
· To provide support to the Community Fundraising team by attending events, representing EAAA at cheque presentations and or networking events where appropriate.
3. General duties/responsibilities
· The post holder may be required to work at any of the Charity’s sites in line with organisational needs.
· All staff must ensure confidentiality and security of information dealt with while performing their duties. They must comply with and keep up to date with Charity policies and legislation on confidentiality, data protection, freedom of information and computer misuse.
· All staff are required to adhere to and act consistently with all relevant health and safety legislation and Charity policies and procedures to ensure that their own and the health, safety and security of others is maintained.

4. Person specification
Essential / DesirableEducation
IOF or CIM qualification
Experience
Experienced in recruiting and managing volunteers. / Experience of using Raisers’ Edge CRM system.
Up to date knowledge of current legislation and developments relating to volunteering. / Experience of fundraising in a community setting
Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
Knowledge and experience of using CRM systems.
Confident presenter and public speaker.
Excellent interpersonal skills, having empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs.
A good team worker, who can build effective internal relationships.
Strong administration and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports.
Ability to assess priorities and objectives, and work to achieve these within agreed timescales.
