Present were: Steve Mocco, David Parmenter, Michael Porcelli, Bryan Davis, John Lawton, Brian Abdon, Shawn Woods (9:04), Rick Dozier, Stuart Mahler, Larry Wohlabaugh, Art Mosley, Jeremy Mosley, Humberto Reyna (9:10), Josh McIntosh, Nick Alvarez, Victor Balmeceda, Bill Combs and Blaine Ison.
Absent were: ,Chris McNealy, Michel Santos,Wade Schalles, , Bruce Eftanislao, Andy Bricker, John Parmenter, Isaiah McNealy andRon Schulz.
Guest present: Mervin Ford
Announcement of Quorum Call to Order/Welcome: John Lawton, Secretary, called the roll and announced a quorum was met. Steve Mocco, State Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:49 PM EDT.
Chairman’s Announcements
Financial report by Treasurer: Bryan Davis, Treasurer, reported the net from the Folkstyle States tourney was about $7,200. There were a few returned entry fees including one guy who pid twice.
Buffalo Wild Wings Fundraiser (3/18): Steve Mocco reported the income was $500 but he is waiting on two Wild Wings locations to report back on the funds earned.
Freestyle & Greco Roman Kickoff (3/25): Steve Mocco reported about 100 kids participated and the amount raised was about $1,400. He complimented Mervin Ford on his official’s clinic as well as coaches, Victor Balmeceda and Shawn Sheldon, on their technique sessions.
Old Business:
1-National Team Uniform Bid Review and Selection: After considerable discussion of the 8 bids, it was agreed that the bidders would be narrowed down to three: Nearfall, Compound and Barbarian. Additional info and product samples will be requested to support their bids.
2-Florida Future Olympians Program: After discussion of the program detailed by Brian Abdon, Mike Porcelli made a motion, 2nd by Brian Abdon, to adopt the Future Olympian Program starting with Freestyle and Greco. The motion passed with no oobjections.
3-National Teams Committee Report: Mike Porcelli said the Father Devine will remain the Fargo Qualifier. Both tournaments will create a pool of wrestlers for the coaches to pick from. Stuart Mahler made a motion, 2nd by Art Mosley, passed with one objection, by John Lawton.
4-After consideration additional discussion, it was agreed that only the first place finisher at FD is qualified to Fargo. 1, 2 & 3 will go into the selection pool for the Dual Meet trip. Will go into stipends at another time.
Stuart Mahler made a motion, 2nd by Vic Balmeceda, the #1s at the Father Devine will go to Fargo, the 1,2 & 3 will go to the selection pool. The motion passed with no objections.
New Business:
1-Father Devine – no report.
2-National Trip Updates:
- Schoolboy Duals- Brian Abdon reported everything is taken care of
- Cadet Duals- Humberto Reyna planes are reserved, need credit card for hotel, car rental is not set.
- Junior Duals- Stuart Mahler hotel is all set, need plane tickets, Pam Ray is working at it with Stuart.
- SE Regionals & Kid Nationals- Steve Mocco everybody is driving or making their own transportation plans. He is working on getting hotels and rates.
- Fargo- John Lawton is not able to go onto the trip because of some family business, so he will no longer serve as the Team Leader for Fargo Men. Andy Bricker is not going to be Team Leader. Steve Moccoriad that he reached out to Rick Tribit, who will help with organization but he is not going on the trip, get them talking.
- John Lawton reported that he had reached out to the Fargo/Morehead Visitors Bureau and reserved 20 rooms for the Days Inn. He will send the message he received from them on to Steve Mocco.
New Meeting Date: Steve Mocco said the next meeting will be on April 17, 2017, at 8:45 PM EDT.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned by Steve Mocco at 10:07 PM EDT.
