WALTON-ON-THE-NAZE.

In the spring of the present year Mrs. Havens and Mrs. Flanders organized a tea for the aged people of this town, which proved a great success, and left a balance in hand of £2.7..6. With this surplus money the above ladies purchased 66 bushels of best coal, which were distributed on Thursday, the 21st inst., among 33 of the oldest inhabitants. Subjoined is a list of the recipients and their ages which unitedly amount to 2,327 years, the average reaching nearly 70½. It would be interesting to know if any town in England, with the same number of inhabitants, could produce 33 whose average age would be greater than could be found there, one old lady in particular being nearly 100 years old. The longevity of its inhabitants speaks well for the healthiness of Walton: - Mr. Ward, 85; Mrs. Snare, 84; Mr. Oxley, 83; Mr. James, 83; Mrs. Byford, 82; Mr. Box, 82; Mr. Goff, 76; Mrs. Sallows, 76; Mr. Smith, 75; Mr. FAIRBROTHER, 75; Mr. Mann, 75; Mr. James 72; Mr. Bates 72; Mr. Simey, 71; Mrs. May, 69; Mr. Snell, 68; Mr. Halls, 68; Mr. Finch, 68; Mr. Bloomfield, 65; Mr. Polley, 65; Mr. H.
