VACANCY: Foundation Programme Director, Pennine East
Due to the expiry of tenure of the existing post holder, applications are invited for the role of Foundation Programme Director at Pennine East (TROH/RI). A job description and structure chart is attached.
The role is a key communication and organisational role that will require the ability to balance competing priorities, as well as excellent communication and negotiating skills. This role will:
· Report into the Assistant Director of Medical Education via the attached structure, to ensure that educational initiatives and imperatives are promptly acted upon.
· Understand and support the balance of priorities between the Service, Educational Leads, Clinical Skills Tutors and Medical and Dental Education team within the Trust, the requirements of our key stakeholders Health Education North West, and the overarching provision of the educational programme.
· Be the main communication link between all parties to ensure effective communication and ensure prompt cascading of information.
· Ensure prompt response toinformation requests from the Medical and Dental Education Team.
· Ensure that actions across the Trust are taken to raise the standards of all postgraduate training in response to recommendations through quality / accreditation / assurance and other visits or processes.
The Medical and Dental Education Team is responsible for the overall management and quality assurance of Medical Education programmes for all Students and Trainees within the Trust. The Team will work with lead educators to ensure that each module of the programme meets the required standards for training and that each student is able to access a comprehensive range of experiences that will enable them to gain the competencies necessary for completion of the required training.
Eligible candidates will be medically qualified and be a Member or Fellow of a Medical Royal College together with an understanding of medical and dental education. Essential criteria will include experience as an NHS Consultant or Senior Doctor, excellent communication skills and experience in the delivery of group teaching, as well as the ability to assess students and deal with underperformance. Additional requirements will include the ability to meet the annual reporting requirements as requested on behalf of the Trust, and ensure an audit trail of suitable documentation and evidence to demonstrate the high standards of quality of training required.
