“Child-Like Faith” for Sun July 16, 2017

I.  Matthew 18:1-4

A.  Except you become like a little child….

1.  So many things can be said about this and expounded upon…

-  Children are ever learning and growing

-  Children are not susceptible to worry and fear like adults are (they haven’t been exposed to everything yet!)

-  Children dream; they believe

-  Children are not overwhelmed by what others are doing

-  Children are not prideful in their ways

2.  A small child is humble and dependent

1.  This is the message that Jesus was preaching: If you want to do something great for the kingdom of God, be like this!

2.  When small children are placed in an unfamiliar setting, they run to their parents (covered under their wings of trust) / They are dependent instead of trying to be INDEPENDENT.

B.  Mark 10:13-16

1.  The message is clear today: If we want to enter into the wonderful things that God has for us, we must become like children all over again!

-  “You must be born again” brings on a whole new meaning

-  No more worry, toiling, or troubled hearts – just live free totally trusting in the Lord

2.  Psalm 91:1-7

II.  Revelation Divine

A.  Luke 10:21-24

1.  How many things have we seen and heard in this life that has taken us away from child-like faith?

2.  Revelation Knowledge comes one way: From the Father to the child

-  When Peter had the revelation knowledge of who Jesus was in Matthew 16:16, He was bold in his conviction like a child. He had received something from His Heavenly daddy and His confidence was sure!

-  Once you receive this child-like revelation, God changes your world! (Your name, your authority, your power become divine just like Him)

B.  II Peter 2:1-3

1.  It’s time to get back to the foundation of God’s Word….

2.  It’s time to be children of the Most High; It’s time to believe and dream again!
