Application Guidelines for the 2015-2016 RID2750 Global Grant Scholarship Program

The Rotary International District 2750 (covering the southern part of Tokyo Metropolitan, Guam, Saipan, Federal States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau) is accepting applications for the 2015-2016 RID2750 Global Grant Scholarship Program with the following guidelines in PBG. You are cordially invited to apply for qualification.

1.  Objectives

The RID2750 Scholarship Program is one of the Rotary Foundation Global Grants, solely organized by RID2750 for scholarship application, selection and dispatch. The purpose of this program is to advance world understanding and goodwill ensuring sustainable and measureable high-impact outcomes in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus through international experiences. In addition, the program has a mission to bridge over the primary host sponsor and the primary international sponsor countries or geographical areas to actively communicate with local communities and Rotary clubs with full use of Rotary’s network.

2.  Terms and Value of Scholarship

The award amount is US$30,000 across the board for tuition, airline ticket (economy round-trip airfare), educational expenses, room and board (correspond to twin bed student dormitory and dining hall).

4.  Qualification

4-1 Scholarship applicants are requested to satisfy the following conditions

(1)  Aiming for sustainable and measureable high-impact outcomes in one of the following Rotary’s six areas of focus. Consequently, graduate-level coursework or institute which applicants desired to get into should also be aligned with Rotary’s six areas of focus.

-  Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

-  Disease prevention and treatment

-  Water and sanitation

-  Maternal and child health

-  Basic education and literacy

-  Economic and community development

(2)  Academic curriculum graduate or expects to graduate by the end of June 2014. Regardless of age, gender or marriage.

(3)  Fluent in language of primary international sponsor country.

(4)  Foster university graduate-level research.

(5)  Stay close to a school in the primary international sponsor country to actively communicate with the local Rotary club and District.

(6)  Applicable to either of the following situation

1)  Having permanent or present address in the area of RID2750.

2)  College/graduate student or full-time office worker at the area of RID2750.

4-2 The Scholarship cannot fund for the applicants who are;

Rotary club and its administration office members as well as those family members, or other Rotary club related members (including the one who terminates Rotary club membership for the purpose of Global Grant Scholarship program application). Activities primarily implemented by an organization other than Rotary.

5.  Scholarship award conditions

(1)  Scholars must fully understand and agree on the RID2750 Global Grant Scholarship program. Required conditions described in the application form.

(2)  The Global Grant Scholarship will be terminated when a scholar found to be a poor performer, loose life, no report submission or any other reason not to satisfy requirements of the Scholarship program. The award amount paid by that time must to be reimbursed.

(3)  Scholars are requested to join as a member of RID2750 Rotary Foundation Alumni after the Scholarship program is over, and keep contacts with the primary host sponsor Rotary club and District. Upon requests, scholars are obliged to report outcomes of the Scholarship program to Rotary clubs in the RID2750.

6.  Application

6-1 Designation of graduate school

1)  The school location must be in Rotary countries or geographical areas.

2)  Designate one school either with the proof of admission or to apply for entry.

3)  Scholarship applicants applying for school entry must receive the proof of admission prior to submission of the Global Grant Scholarship application form by RID2750 Rotary Foundation Scholarship VTT and Alumni Committee to Rotary Foundation head office in Evanston, USA.

6-2  Application

Fill out the Application Form attached to this guideline and submit the form to either of the following function by e-mail;

1)  Rotary clubs in the Rotary International District 2750

-  A Rotary club close to your home or working place which will be your primary host sponsor club.

2)  Rotary International District 2750 Rotary Foundation Scholarship VTT and Alumni Committee

-  The Committee will later appoint your primary host sponsor club which is close to your home or working place.

6-3  Period

Application must be submitted within the period of July 1, 2014 and October 31, 2014. You can contact the Rotary clubs in your respective countries or geographical areas to inquire how to be sponsored for the grant.

7.  Selection

(1)  First selection

On November 22, 2014 RID2750 Rotary Foundation Scholarship VTT and Alumni Committee conducts interviews with applicants. Time and place are to be advised through your primary host sponsor club.

(One or two candidates will be selected through above interviews)

(2)  Final selection

The Scholarship VTT and Alumni Committee will contact for acceptance of scholars in the primary international sponsor Rotary clubs or Districts.

The finalists will be selected through the second interviews upon receiving confirmations of acceptance by the primary international sponsor Rotary clubs and proof of admission from the designated schools.

At the same time the candidates must apply the on-line Self Check as a First Step.

8.  Procedures for dispatch of successful candidates

(1)  The successful candidates must submit the Global Grant Application on-line form to Rotary Foundation head office in Evanston. A copy of the proof of school admission must also be attached.

(2)  The award amount for Scholarship will be approved sometime in July 2015.

(3)  Departure for the countries where the grant program will take place for setting up prior to the start of school in September 2015.

9.  Notes

(1)  The Global Grant Scholarship cannot fund any expense paid before the final approval (including airfares and insurances).

(2)  For airfares and insurances please refer to the “Terms and Conditions for Rotary Foundation District Grants and Global Grants”.

(3)  The final selection of the Global Grant Scholarship cannot be processed unless the applicants receive the proof of school admission and the acceptance of primary international sponsor club at the country where the grant project will take place. Please note that we may not be able to find the primary international sponsor clubs for scholarship applicants challenging to enter prestigious schools (in Boston, London, Paris etc).

(4)  The successful candidates must participate in the orientation programs organized by RID2750. In case of absence website access required for on-line orientation program instead.

(5)  Scholars must submit a final report after the Global Grant Scholarship is over. The report should at least cover the following topics.

1)  The outcomes of the coursework and how these outcomes are aligned with Rotary’s six areas of focus.

2)  Scholar’s involvement of local communities and Rotary clubs in countries where the grant project took place.

3)  Balance of payment report with official receipts above 75US$ or equivalent per one payment.
