Ski Trip

The Ski Trip was held January 31, 2009. Three members attended and enjoyed their time at the event. It was decided that for future events, there would be a minimum numbers of members that must attend to proceed with the planning of the event. This would provide a way to ensure that the club’s money would not be spent on events that very few members would attend.

End of the Year Banquet

The end of the year banquet planning is being completed by Steve. He has called the Elks golf course for prices and room availability for our desired date of April 11. He found out that the room we want is booked on the 11th therefore he is planning on calling to book the room on April 18th which is the following Saturday. Based on the price of renting the room and ordering catering, he estimates the cost for the dinner to be approximately $25 per person.

Pub Traverse

The clubs 3rd Pub Traverse Event will be held either April 11th or April 18th and being planned on the weekend that will not conflict with the End of the Year Banquet. We are currently waiting to figure out the plans with the banquet. A sign-up sheet will be passed around at the next meeting.

Surveying Museum

The trip to the surveying museum in Illinois will be held on March 7. A sign-up sheet went around and the minimum number of members to attend the event was met. The plans for the trip can begin. A Purdue vehicle needs to be confirmed as well as making contact with the museum.

Shootgun Shooting Outing and BBQ

The event will be held on March 28. Jacob has spoke with the Trap and Skeet Range and confirmed our plans. We have been cleared to hold a BBQ as well so further plans will be made closer to the date. Food will be provided to all members in attendance. A sign-up sheet will be passed around at the next meeting.

National Convention

Seven students are planning on attending the National Convention that will be held Feb. 20-23 in Salt Lake City Utah. The undergrad students who are attending have practiced for the “slide rule” competition which they will be participating in. All arrangements for the trip have been completed. Jacob and Jason are in charge of transporting the booth to the convention.

State Convention

The convention that was held on Jan. 14-16 was a success. Jacob spoke briefly about the event and mentioned the benefits and some suggestions for future attendees to the convention.

Treasurer’s Report

Approximately $1,200 and the club is waiting for $2,000 from the Board of Directors of ISPLS, $1,000 from The School of Civil Engineering, and $1,000 from CESAC.

Blunder Newsletter Update

A Spring Blunder Newsletter will be sent out via email. It has been planned that the Blunder committee will be meeting briefly after the March chapter meeting to complete the Blunder. Members who attend the National Convention and those who attended the state convention have been asked to write a brief article about the conventions. We will also discuss the spring senior design project and its progress.

Fundraisers

Jacob briefly showed his appreciation to the committees and thanked everyone involved for helping raise money for the club and the large expense of the National Convention.
