Warrandyte & District Community Music Program

SEMESTER 1, 2016

The Warrandyte and District Community Music Program is an after school music program held at Warrandyte Primary Schoolin Forbes Street and is designed to provide quality instrumental music tuition to primary and post primary students. If a younger child is interested, please speak to the coordinator or Tutor before enrolling.

Instruments being offered include violin, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. Theory and ear training isalso available.

The program operates in two 15 week semesters throughout the school year.

Classes will begin week commencing15th February.

Classes will not be held on school or public holidays, but may be held on School Curriculum Days or teacher strike days. On Code Red Fire Days, classes will be cancelled and makeup classes rescheduled. If a make-up class is required due to tutor absence during the Semester, the tutor will advise you. At the discretion of the tutor, make-up classes may be available for children who miss lessons if sufficient prior notification is given.

Group size 2$360 for 15 x 30 minutes sessions (includes GST)

Group size 1$545 for 15 x 30 minutes sessions (includes GST)

Group size 1$365 for 15 x 20 minute sessions (includes GST)

Group size 2 $210 for 15 x 15 minutes sessions (includes GST) (Drums only)

Group size 2 $400 for 15 x 30 minutes sessions (includes GST) (Drums only)

NB: Group lessons are only possible if suitably matched students are available.

NB: Electronic drum kits & headphonesallow 2 students to share the same timeslot.

A payment of $100 must accompany your enrolment to secure your place.An invoice will be forwarded with balance due after lesson times have been finalised and if applicable, groups have been formed.Please note that refunds are unable to be given after commencement of classes, except under exceptional circumstances. If groups are unable to be formed, you have the option of a full refund or paying the difference for private lessons (ie Group of 1).

Instrument Hire:A limited number of instruments are available for hire. Please check with the coordinator before hiring for the first time.

$77 hire (includes GST) per semester plus $60 bond

Students wishing to participate should complete and return the enrolment form attached, together with $100 payment. ENROLMENTS ARE DUE BY NO LATER THANMonday8th February and should be emailed Rdelivered to the office at Warrandyte Primary School, Forbes Street Warrandyte, 3113.Payment can be made by cash, eftpos or credit card at the School Office only, or by credit card authority via email.You will be advised of your class allocation in the week prior to lessons commencing. Lessons are allocated on a first come, first served basis – with some allowance for age.

Sophie has taught piano and violin lessons at a range of Primary and Secondary schools in Melbourne. She is a qualified classroom and instrumental music teacher, having completed a Master of Teaching, Master of Music Studies and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Melbourne.

Sophie has experience in conducting and musical direction, and has performed with orchestras, concert bands, choirs, musical theatre orchestras and with her string quartet. Sophie is an experienced accompanist, working with choirs, ballet classes, musical theatre casts, and students preparing for auditions, competitions, VCE and AMEB examinations.

Drums (15 or 30 minute classes) / Frank Morda / Wednesday / 2.30 - 7.30pm / 2

Drum Lessons at Warrandyte Primary started with 6 students but has boomed to 20 plus students. Pupils will learn rock, pop, latin, funk & jazz beats as well as learning how to readdrum notation. 1999 BA Music Vic College of the Arts with current VIT registration; 20 years teaching from primary to VCE music in Guitar & Bass; 20 years active in music industry as performing and recording artist.

Suzi has a Bachelor of Music Education (Melb Uni). She specialises in Woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone), but also teaches piano and bass guitar. A limited number of Woodwind instruments are available for hire from the school. Suzi has 30 years of teaching experience, from primary level to VCE, and also tutors adult beginners.
