SonomaCounty girls who commit crimes or fail to adhere to probation agreements may be sent to Sonoma County Juvenile Hall. Upon release from Juvenile Hall, some of these girls have a hard time following the rules of probation and participating in house arrest has been unsuccessful. For these girls, there is the SierraYouthCenter (SYC). The girls at SYC have made some unfortunate choices early on that have greatly affected their lives. Sierra is a structured residential ranch/camp for teenage girls* (14-17 years old) located at the Sonoma County Juvenile Hall facility. The average stay is seven months followed by a minimum of a three-month aftercare program. Currently SYC is girls-only with accommodations for twenty girls.
