Summary of Responsibilities:

Working under the Human Resource Manager, the HR Generalist prepares human resource documents, records statistics and handles confidential material in the human resources department. Answers general questions and inquiries in all areas of human resources. Completes special assignments and projects as required. The HR Generalist is expected to serve as a public relations ambassador for all Acoma Business Enterprises and must be courteous and helpful to customers at all times. Other related duties may be directed by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts exit interviews for employee terminations and writes separation notices.
  • Assists in recruitment and receives and processes employment job applications. Informs applicants of job openings and details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, and promotion opportunities.
  • Keeps in contact with recruiting agencies and schools.
  • Interview job applicants to match their qualifications with employers' needs, recording and evaluating applicant experience, education, training, and skills.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Review employment applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements, using manual or computerized file searches.
  • Reviews all applications and enters them in the applicant tracking system to ensure timely retrieval of qualified applicants in response to job vacancies.
  • Performs telephone screens, as appropriate, to ensure applicants meet the essential qualifications and job requirements.
  • Process, verify, and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications.
  • Receives employee information forms (W-4, personnel data forms, direct deposit forms, etc.) and forwards to appropriate personnel for processing.
  • Must be presentable when reporting to work, wearing appropriate business attire, or clean and pressed uniform when applicable. Good personal hygiene required.

Skills, Abilities, Equipment Used and Knowledge:

  • Must have an aptitude for customer services and ability to remain calm and cheerful in stressful situations.
  • Must possess good to excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate complex or unwelcome information courteously and helpfully to guests, co-workers, and supervisors. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the employees throughout all levels of the Acoma Business Enterprises.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are required.
  • Must possess active listening skills. Must be capable of adapting to major changes in priority and direction.
  • Must have knowledge of ABE policies and procedures, including employee recruitment, selection, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary procedures.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent helpful.
  • Minimum of two years Human Resource/benefits and employee relations experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain Acoma Gaming License.
  • Must be age 21.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule may be variable (7/24/365). Requires the visual acuity and manual dexterity to read and write reports.
  • Working conditions will be in an interior, climate-controlled environment. Working conditions include exposure to moderate-to-heavy tobacco smoke and moderate-loud noise.
