· Shannon Evanchec presented the student representative report.

VI. Approval of Minutes
· The Board approved the minutes of November 4 and 11, 2009.
VII. Reception of Visitors
· Board President Mrs. Burd welcomed all visitors in attendance.
· Energy Education presented the district an award
· Dr. Prazenica presented Ronald Armahizer a Certificate of Appreciation for service on the school board.
· Dr. Prazenica presented Nelda Burd a Certificate of Appreciation for service as Board Secretary.
· Dr. Prazenica announced the district received four Keystone awards for PSSA achievement.
VIII. administrative reports
Finance
· The Board approved/ratified the following:
--Financial reports, payment of bills for all accounts and transfer of funds for the 2009-10 school year.
· The Board approved to decrease the IRS mileage rate to $.50 per mile, effective January 1, 2010.
· The Board approved a tax refund for Concordia Lutheran Ministries in the amount of $954.00.
· The Board approved a resolution that will certify that the Board will not increase any school district tax for the 2010-2011 school year above the index of 3.7%.
· The Board approved the ComDoc Document Management 5-year agreement for copy machines at a cost of $2,168.80 per month and a 1-year maintenance agreement for the color copier in the administration office at a cost of $565.80 per month.
· The Board was updated on Monthly Deposits, Bond Status Reports, ASC Funding Report & November 2009 Revenue Analysis.
Transportation/Facilities
· The Board was updated on the activities buses.
Special Services Report
· The Board approved an agreement between “Transitions High School”, a program of Grace Youth and Family Foundation and South Butler County School District for the 2009 -2010 school year. (Dec. 2nd)
Assistant Superintendent’s Report
· The Board approved the Personnel Report, which included:
--Leave of absences/maternity for Melinda Gourley, SBPS 1st grade, effective May 5, 2010 through May 28, 2010.
--To hire Helaine Devlin, effective December 10, 2009, and Judith Kowola, pending receipt of clearances, as SBIES 10-month custodians and Gloria Hilterman, SBIES teacher’s aide, effective December 10, 2009.
--The list of substitute teachers and support staff, MIU emergency certified substitutes, co-curricular positions and resignations, the list of conferences and pre-approved conferences, conventions & workshops/field trips for the 2009-10 school year.
Superintendent's Report
· The Board approved the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant from the PDE for the 2009-2010 school year in the amount of $7,997.00.
· The Board approved the administration to initiate a plan to obtain information about timber values on district property.
· The Board approved the administration to pursue a plan for the initial phase of development of schools grounds for additional use.
· The Board approved homebound instruction for two students.
Board Member/Committee Report Policy
· The Board approved the request from New Life Christian Ministries to utilize the Primary School on Sundays from December 1, 2009 through February 2010. (Dec. 2nd)
· The Board ratified the 1-year term of treasurer by Mrs. Burd for the 2009-2010 school year. (Dec. 2nd)
· The Board approved the 2010 spring musical budget, not to exceed $29,158.00.
· The Board approved the request from New Life Christian Ministries to utilize the Primary School on December 23 and December 24, 2009.
Butler Co. Area Vocational-Technical School and Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV
· No report this month
Clarence Brown Education Center
· No report this month
IX. Report of the Solicitor
· Mr. King reported an adjustment was needed to the contract for a fire alarm system in the Intermediate school.
· The Board voted to revoke an Oct 14, 2009 motion for approval of the fire alarm system and approve the purchase of said fire alarm system with adjustments according to General Services Bureau of Purchasing contract # 6350-03.

The next meetings of the School Board will be a special meeting on January 4, 2010, a committee of the whole meeting on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 and on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. The meetings are at 7:00 p.m. in the Knoch Middle School library. All are welcome to attend.
