MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING – 17TH MAY 2010

Minutes of the meeting held on 17th May 2010 were approved as an accurate record.
2. / TERMS OF REFERENCE
Discussion was held around membership and it was recommended that THT representation should be at strategic level. Voluntary sector representation was discussed as there is now a separate group on this. It was agreed a representative from the voluntary service group should feedback into this group and into the BBV prevention committee. In the meantime Colin Anderson would link with voluntary groups until representation is agreed and progressed. It was noted that if there is a particular BBV issue then the group would invite Trish Tougher (BBV Services Manager) and it was noted that JL and KT also have a BBV remit. Document to be changed by AMcL and OW to circulate.

3. / OUTCOMES LETTER
Three potential dates for visit with 19th November 2010 being first choice. To be confirmed depending on diary commitments of Dr Harpreet Kohli and Colin Sloey. Venue for visit is Committee Room, Board HQ, Beckford Street, Hamilton. The following would be in attendance:

Dr McLellan, John Logan and Kerri Todd would meet to discuss report prior to circulation.
It was felt that difficulties doing SRE in Lanarkshire may be raised and discussed at the Scottish Government meeting. A meeting has already been set up by AMcL with JI and OW to discuss this in more detail.
4. / REDUCING TEENAGE PREGNANCY GUIDANCE
A short life working group would be convened to look at recommendation/actions arising out of document (tabled as web link) and start compiling the self-assessment framework. Membership to include Cathy Courtney, Anne McLellan, Eleanor Smith, Sandra Bogan, John French Ailsa Clunie, Katrina McGowan Sandra McInnes and Kerri Todd. (MT to get minutes). First meeting to take place 28/9/10 at 10am in Meeting Room Glenalmond Building, Coathill Hospital, Coatbridge.
ACTION: AMcL to circulate this.
5. / UPDATED SEXUAL HEALTH ACTION PLAN
Kerri Todd and Colin Anderson met to discuss the updated plan. Recommendation arising out of the meeting was to slim down the narrative, reference local and national activity, propose a structure. Comments/approval to be sought from the group before any further amendment.
The bulk of work/information still to be addressed is around priority areas/framework/action plans/areas of responsibility and how to link to national outcomes. Work to be linked/cross referenced to QIS standards and other key drivers.
AMcL highlighted need for young persons services and needs to remain a high priority. KT agreed to organise 4 short-life working groups plus chair on priority areas. AMcL and AC volunteered to chair service delivery group, AC wants to be involved in the LAAC group. Karen McVittie to be involved and Kate McLaughlin in the inequalities group.

6. / HIV SOCIAL MARKETING
National Advisory Group looking at marketing target group in consultation with services and professional groups. The campaign launched in May 2010. A sample suite of materials were tabled for information. Campaign in entitled “HIV Wake Up” and has two main strands: condoms and testing. Campaign is predominantly poster based but is used on websites etc. The testing message had received positive feedback from target group (MSM). Update from CA. Concerns that posters not yet received in Airdrie Locality yet. Proposed audit to look at how many posters are actually displayed.
7. / UPDATE ON PROGRESS WITH QIS
Owen Watters attended meeting in Edinburgh re training as a reviewer. All staff leading standards had already been advised (9 standards). Elizabeth McGonigle is collating all information. Date of QIS visit 23/2/2011.
Next meeting is on 1st September 2010. Group members were reminded that they may be contacted for QIS feedback.
All comments/requests to be emailed to Dr McLellan or Dr Currie.
8. / UPDATE ON VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS
CA will feed back and get representative to attend this group. Karen Murray and Maria Dickson to link with this group.

9. / UPDATE FOR PARTNER ORGANISATIONS
AMcL to email North and South Education for update as no one in attendance.

10. / SOUTH LANARKSHIRE EDUCATION

11. / NLC SOCIAL WORK
Ailsa reported that her role had changed to encompass looked after and accommodated and youth justice.
A children’s carers audit is being carried out. Training issues for foster carers being reviewed.
Positive feedback on recent Health Fayre was shared. The event had been very successful and report would be circulated in due course.
12. / SLC SOCIAL WORK
Nil to report. An update would be given at the next meeting.

13. / YOUNG PERSONS SERVICES
Ø  10 clinics now up and running.
Ø  9 clinics are nurse led
Ø  NASH system is not in place.
Ø  Training day to be held in December 2010 for health and social work
A meeting had taken place between health, police and social work.

14.  A.O.C.B

Ø  Sexual Offences Act Training re new SO bill

NHSL sexual health Consultants will train health staff in-house. Child Protection Programme Board will lead on training for others.
