About the Conference
In a democratic set up, administration involves public policy formulation and its implementation. Effective administrative performance lends respect and credibility to the government policies. A crucial test of administrative performance lies in the achievement of set objectives as are contained in the policy decisions. Governmental policy decisions must therefore, be consistent to ensure successful programming and its execution. The welfare approach and socialistic nature of the Indian political system has added new dimensions to the role and responsibilities of its public administration. Besides, growing expectations of the people, fast increasing social awareness, population explosion, multiplicity of administrative organisations, have introduced further complexities in the administrative system and procedures. Therefore, public administration has been able to perform its role and meet its responsibilities only partially. There are several facets of government which demand a serious consideration to sharpen its administrative system and make it responsive to the ever changing needs and requirements of the society. There is a need for close inter-action between the scholars and the practitioners of public administration. Such inter-face would provide better insight and understanding of the discipline and profession of public administration. The focus and locus of the proposed 2015 National Conference, is to look back as well as ahead at several old well-establsihed policies and institutions and organizations/
