Himmetdede Gold Mine

Himmetdede Gold Mine is located in central Anatolia within the boundaries of Kayseri Province approximately 45km northwest of Kayseri. Infrastructure and plant within the project are being set up and closest settlement areas to this project are Himmetdede, Duver and Kalaba villages. Mine site is on the Kayseri-Kirsehir highway. The most important feature of this project is that it has been discovered, developed and generated by the geologists from Koza Gold Operations Inc. Therefore Himmetdede is the source of pride for Turkish mining.

It was determined that Himmetdede deposit currently has 24.7 million tonnes of ore reserve which contains 0.71 gr/au per tonne. It is planned that 12.7 tonnes of gold will be recovered by the end of mine life.

Open pit mining method is planned for ore production at Himmetdede project. The ore produced at open pit mining method will be transported by trucks to be fed into jaw crusher. Cement and lime will be added in agglomeration unit to agglomerate ore, which has been reduced to fine size by cone crusher. Agglomerated ore is taken by the conveyor band to stock pile area, where it will pass through barren solution to allow gold penetrates into the solution and will be collected in gold bearing pregnant solution ponds. After leaching, process, collected pregnant solution is enriched at ADR Plant to pour dore. The processes of carbon adsorption, carbon stripping and reactivation, electrowinning and refining are implemented at ADR plant. Non-economic rocks extracted from open pit are stockpiled at uneconomical rock storage area located within the project area.

It is anticipated that project life will be 8 years including land, preparation, construction, operating and closing stages. However, in the event of discovering reserves suitable for operating following explorations to be carried out in the area, it is possible to extend life of the project.

In addition to direct investment, the project will contribute significant input to the economy through state right, taxes and generating employment. It is planned to recruit 150 employees during construction stage of the project and 300 employees when operation commences. In pursuant to the local recruitment and purchasing policy requirements, majority of employees will be recruited from surrounding villages and local suppliers will be preferred for buying goods and services. Along with direct benefits, the project will significantly contribute to the development of local education, health and social infrastructure. Sustainable mining criteria adopted by Koza Gold’s other mine sites will also be implemented here to pave the way for social and financial development in Himmetdede, Kayseri region.
