VI. Other Curriculum Discussion
1. Discussion of Fall Deadline.
Angela Harlan started the discussion explaining that due to our Fall deadline in January there is rush to get all the curriculum into the catalog prior to the refresh of the catalog. Some suggestions for changes to help ease the situation were:
· Ask Faculty Senate to have a January meeting.
· Move the December UCC meeting one week later, to occur during the first week of final exams.
· Have earlier deadlines for programs and new courses due the amount of work it takes to create and enter them in to PeopleSoft.
· Move advising by 1 – 2 weeks in both fall and spring semesters, which would allow for a later date for the catalog refresh. This would allow more time for the Registrar’s office to complete curricular changes, as well as help with the implementation of Course Fees Moving advising would assist both the Admissions and Registrar’s Offices.
The Committee felt that the last option had the most benefits. Becky Pfeifer and Angela Harlan are to draft a calendar that shows the above changes for others to review.
2. Bob Leitheiser reopened a previous discussion of the form for program revisions.
It was recommended that we add a separate field to the Program Proposal From for Justification for revisions. Currently the only place to provide rationale is for a new program. Becky Pfeifer will follow-up with Angela Harlan regarding change and then follow-up with CourseLeaf. This request would not be done right away due to other requests.
V. Motion to be adjourned was moved by Terri Frame and Bob Leitheiser at 2:56 p.m.
Respectfully,
Becky Pfeifer
University Curriculum Committee Secretary
