About the College of Business Advisory Board Scholars Program

Students are selected to the College of Business Advisory Board Scholars Program who havedemonstrated strong academic skills and service to the community and university. Selected students have proven themselves to be highly motivated, intellectually strong and civic-minded.

To be considered for the College of Business Advisory Scholars Program, students must meet the following criteria.

  • Must be an undergraduate business major with junior status by the fall of 2014 (completion of 60-70 credit hours by fall 2014).
  • Must take at least 12 hours each semester
  • Preference to students who have earned, or will earn, a portion of their educational costs
  • Preference to students who have been, and will continue to be, active contributors to civic causes in the community
  • Preference to students who have participate inextracurricular programs and activities such as student clubs and organizations, sports, and music
  • The cumulative GPA must be 3.00
  • The majority of the work must have been at UTC, and the UTC GPA must be 3.00
  • Need is not a separate criterion for selection but may be considered if all other criteria are met

Students awarded an Advisory Board Scholars Scholarship will be evaluated for continuing eligibility at the end of each academic semester. To remain eligible scholars must:

  • Remain in good academic standing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Business
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0
  • Actively participate in the Advisory Board Scholars mentoring program, communicating regularly throughout the semester with their assigned mentor
  • Participate in two additional professional development or enrichment activities each semester that might include college of business workshops, meeting with freshman business living learning community students, or community service
  • Attend the annual scholarships award banquet

When applying for the College of Business Advisory Board Scholars Program, students are asked to submit an application packet made up of the following:

  • A letter stating what personal characteristics qualify you for the program.
  • A College of Business Advisory Board Scholars Program application.
  • A current resume.
  • Degree sheet.

Additionally, at least two letters of reference should be sent under separate cover.

Scholarship awards will be effective Fall 2014.
