POSITION/JOB TITLE: Forklift Driver

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Safely operates forklift to assemble loads and move materials for customers and delivery needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Customer Service.
- Represent SBL in a positive and professional manner
- Assist customer with the selection of materials
- Help customer load materials onto vehicle or unload any returns
- Assist installer or other employees with loading and unloading customer materials
- Assemble loads
- Pull job tickets and select materials to fill order and assemble in staging area
- Band load
- Identify/tag load with customer information
- Enter correct inventory count into computer system (if necessary)
- Load Trucks
- Load banded materials onto truck
- Communicate with Driver any add-ons to be loaded onto truck
- Unload Trucks and rail cars
- Unload materials
- Stage materials
- Stock materials
- Restock materials
- Restock customer returns
- Pull materials from overstock and fill in various areas
- Housekeeping
- Remove bands, scrap lumber and trash from yard.
- Maintain appearance of lumberyard.
- Snow Removal (Seasonal)
- Safely operate front-end loader, forklift and pickup truck to remove snow.
(Manual equipment may also be needed: snow shovel, snow blower, etc.)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate other equipment such as a chain saw and banding machine
- Respect and comply with all personal safetyequipment policies
- Participate in inventory management process
- Complete other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 – 12 months previous experience in lumber industry
- 12 months previous stocking / forklift experience preferred

- Entry level computer skills helpful
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 – 75 lbs (100 lbs. occasionally)
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, and reach with your body, arms, and /or legs
- Ability to use hands and grasp and manipulate objects
ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work outdoors in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
- Work with mechanical equipment
- Exposure to fumes and loud noises
LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATE(S): Forklift certification required
