Sam Hawgood, MBBS

Dean, School of Medicine

Dear Sam:

I am writing to ask that the priority childcare slot for the School of Medicine be allocated

to Person A and Person B in the next cycle, for their son Child’s Name

(DOB: 1/1/12).

Person A, MD, is an Assistant Professor in Residence in our Subspecialty division at Parnassus. She is widely recognized to be the …. Dr. A's potential as a scientist has been reflected in her impressive track record of extramural support and the high quality and impact of her publications. In addition, Dr. A is an outstanding clinician… The recent, successful recruitment of Dr. A was a very high priority for our Subspecialty Division at Parnassus, and we are working very hard to ensure that she has access to the resources she will need for her ongoing and future success. With the arrival of Child, ensuring an optimal child care arrangement will be crucial to the continued success of her research program.

Person B, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Clinical Professor and a promising physician scientist in our Other Subspecialty division at Parnassus. He is developing a robust research program to study the development of …. He is currently on an NIH grant. In addition, he is a clinical…. Person B is a superb clinician and an outstanding scientist. We aggressively recruited him when he finished fellowship, countering offers from Institution #1 and Institution #2. He is a superstar and will undoubtedly be a prominent clinician-scientist in the field.

Childcare is especially challenging for Drs. A and B, since they are both productive junior faculty establishing research programs and maintain active clinical programs. Providing them with a spot at the Parnassus Child Care Center will help two young and very promising faculty members.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Sincerely yours,

Talmadge E. King., Jr., MD
