2015New Manchester Jaguars Boys’ Basketball Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

It is almost that time again, and I wanted to start the summer off by explaining our summer activities and opportunities for your son as a basketball player and athlete. We are willing to work even harder to get New Manchester Jaguars basketball on track and produce some successful seasons at New Manchester in the near future.

The most imminent opportunity to improve will be our summer workout sessions. We will be having summer practices to prepare players for the summer camps we will attend and play throughout the month of June on all levels. In these sessions, we will work on all fundamentals of the game from dribbling, passing, and footwork, to shooting, motion principles, and defense. Our aim is to teach the intricacies of the game that will make your son, and more importantly, our teammore successful. I will include the group and time of your son’s workout at the end of this letter. This will be a great time for players to use their individually worked skills and apply them to game situations.

Right now it looks like we will have multiple teams that will be playing this summer based on ability grouping. Our campsare going to be geared towards improving effort, skill, and intensity that will make us more successful as a team. There will be multiple drills and competitions, and the fee is $50 for our 9-12th grade basketball participants. Also this summer, we will be participating in several team camps around the Douglas, Paulding & metro areas. We will begin playing games May29th. I will hand out schedules that will have locations and times, as the camps approaches.

The first team camp will be at South Paulding High June 8-11th. This will be a freshman, JV & varsity camp and a good camp to gauge some of your son’s summer progress. We will utilize carpooling to get to this local camp.

We will be attending Georgia State University Basketball Camp on June 12-13th and the second session will be June 26-27thvarsity only. According to the turnout for summer basketball participants will determine how many additional camp/games we engage. For the GSU camps we are hoping to field two teams on a varsity level.

We are extremely dedicated to making your son a great basketball player and a better young man. We are very blessed at New Manchester to have great facilities, a dedicated staff, and supportive administration. We truly do want to help your son to become a better basketball player, but we really want your son to be a good person treating others with respect and learning how to work hard to achieve goals. I can promise everyone that is willing to work and give effort will have a better chance to improve their skills and possibly contribute next winter. There are so many areas fundamentally we are targeting as a team. Athletes will be asked to utilize those learned and developed skills to help this basketball program. I will always tell a kid where he stands because that is only fair. We have some great kids on our team and basketball offers a chance for many of them to display their work ethic and leadership skills. Thanks again for all your support. Our staff felt very welcomed and we thank you for your continued support of this team. If you ever have any questions about anything give me a call and I would be happy to discuss our program. Have a great summer and see the next page for additional information.
