Art –The World of Watercolor

Do you love watercolors? Do you want to create a masterpiece? You will learn techniques used in watercolor painting and create a mini portfolio of water color master pieces to be displayed in a gallery show at the end of the week.

Chess Challenge

Grades 1-5 (10:00 A.M.)

Grades 6-8 (2:00 P.M.)

Do you already play chess or want to learn? New players will learn the basics and fundamentals to become solid players. Existing players will have the opportunity to learn new strategies, various openings and end games, and other key chess skills. Most importantly, this class is all about playing one of the oldest and greatest games in the world!

Computer Coding for Cool Kids

Grades 1-5 (8:00 A.M.)

Grades 6-8 (12:00 P.M.)

Be one of the “cool kids” and learn how to program computers. We will use “Logo” and “Scratch” programming websites to learn the basics of coding. You will then create your own “cool” and “safe” webpage using HTML and JavaScript. Then, show off your web-page and programming skills at the Dare to Discover Family Day.

Exploring Puppetry!

Grades 3-5 (8:00 & 10:00 A.M.)

Students will learn how to create shadow puppets, write their own scripts, and perform these at the family open house. No experience necessary!

Exploring Spanish Arts and Crafts

The goal of this class is to promote awareness, acceptance and appreciation of diverse Spanish cultures through arts and crafts. Students will create different crafts – sugar skulls, “papelpicado,” worry dolls, Spanish fans and colorful masks while discovering country facts, history and culture.

Make it Funny/Comic Strips

Grades 1-3 (8:00 A.M.)

Using dynamics and essentials of comic strip development, students will create their own characters and story lines. They will be working out of their personal take-home sketch books to illustrate their story having the freedom to use creativity and imagination. This class also fosters writing essentials and story writing.

Movies on Castles – By You!

Computer programs on Castles will help students discover the true facts about castles and the way of living by their inhabitants. Students will create their own setting, costumes, and short movies which will be recorded to be viewed the last day of camp. If you love castles and the Medieval way of life, this is the class for you!

Timeless Window Art

Using real old windows students will have several options to fill in the glass. Choices would range from picking a time period and add to the windows, key feature of the culture of that time, or current time, or students can create their own cultural design of today, using paints or various objects. These projects are timeless and make interesting art work for conversation.

Mystery Detectives

Computers, microscopes, spy glasses, gathering of evidence, or science experiments will help our amateur detectives solve the mystery of the day. Each day will present a new mystery to be solved by various methods. In no time at all, these students will be thinking like a detective! Become a super sleuth with us!

3D – Math with Bridges

Grades 3-5 (8:00 & 10:00 A.M.)

Use your brain and your hands as you have fun exploring basic shapes, their purpose and their integrity. We will use these basic shapes to build bridges, houses or other 3-D models as part of an intriguing hands-on experience.

The Science of Flight

Science mixes with history as students learn about the evolution of flight, from hot air balloons to airplanes to rockets, and the scientific principles that enable it, including lift, weight, thrust, and drag. We will design and build our own aircraft!
