NPAW Meeting Minutes—7:00pm, Thursday, December 5, 2013

There were 14 present.

President James Boreing opened the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. He then introduced the guests.

The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s Reports were read and approved.

The following announcements were made by Jeanie Walsh. The Bruceton School Essay Contest is now underway and at this time there are 3 fourth grades and 1 fifth grade participating with an approximate total of 100 students.

Jeanie also reported that NPAW has sold a total of 103 house number signs. Ninety signs have been delivered and 13 are yet to be received from the printer. She also stated that NPAW will continue to collect Box Tops for Education.

President Boreing opened the floor for further nominations and election of officers for 2014 was held.

Officers for 2014 are as follows:

President: Jeanie Walsh

Vice President: Jim Livingood

Secretary: Position remains open

Treasurer: Margie Boreing

Jeanie Walsh stated she would do her best as President of NPAW and said she wanted to re-establish the Zone Captains and Co-Captains positions. She asked for volunteers. The main duty for the Zone Captains is to call and remind members of the meeting date and time and the speaker for the meeting. She ask for help in serving on various committees, such as the Candidate Forum, Program Committee, Essay Contest Committee, and other committees.

President Boreing then introduced Rita McCrobie, former Consumer Advocate for the WVAG. Rita may be assuming a new role within the AG’s Office, focusing on drugs and substance abuse and labor relations. Rita hopes to return NPAW in her new capacity.

Rita then introduced Pam Krushansky, newly appointed Consumer Advocate for the AG’s Office. Pam discussed shopping safety and phone and internet scams during the Christmas season.

There was also a discussion among those in attendance in taking steps and working together with the AG’s staff and other neighborhood watch groups about the seriousness of drugs and substance abuse in our towns and communities in Preston County.

Jeanie reported that Martha White is very much interested in working with the watch groups individually or as a county wide effort. Her title and contact information is as follows:
