About the Program
Grant investments are made possible through funding from the partnering arts councils and through the NC Arts Council’s Regional Artist Project Grant program that distributes dollars to several regional consortiums of arts councils throughout the state. The Regional Artist Project Grants program is designed to support visual, performing, literary and interdisciplinary individual artists at all career stages to pursue projects furthering their professional artistic development. Artists will have completed the basic education in their respective art form. Regional Artist Project Grants support professional artists in any discipline and at any stage in their careers to pursue projects that further their professional development. Awards generally range $250-$2,000.
Eligibility
Artists practicing all art forms at all stages of their development may apply. However, applicants must currently reside in Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Rockingham or Randolph Counties for one year immediately preceding the application date. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and cannot be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program.
Selection Criteria
The evaluation criteria will include:
1. Overall excellence of the applicant’s art work and demonstration of exceptional talent
2. Serious professional commitment to art form
3. Contribution of the proposed project to the artist’s professional development
4. Feasibility of the proposed project
Project Areas
Typical grant investments might include funds for expenses in the following areas:
1. Promotion/Presentation: the cost of producing a demonstration recording for a composer or performer, a video cassette for a choreographer, a portfolio for a graphic artist, editorial assistance for a writer, brochures, slides, etc.
2. Travel: to specific workshops, retreats or seminars; or traveling to gather information intrinsic to an artist’s art form.
3. Services: rental of equipment or facilities for presentation of a new work, recording studio space, etc.
4. Supplies: purchase of supplies and materials necessary for the completion or production of a new work deemed by the artist to be an essential work in his/her career.
5. Training: advanced study or coaching.

Project Timeline: January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016.
Project Evaluations Due: January 15, 2017.

Contractual Requirements for Recipients:
If approved for an investment, you will receive a contract to review and sign prior to disbursement of funds. Recipients will also receive an investment report form that is required to be submitted to ArtsGreensboro upon completion of your work. The final report is due to the AG office by 5pm on January 16, 2017.

A. NARRATIVE: Use the following headings and address each in order. Limit to one page. Minimum 10 pt. font.

B. PROJECT BUDGET: Please fill out the itemized projected expenses budget sheet with any proposed sources of income, including Regional Artists Program grant.
C. RESUME: Include education, employment (professional experience), publications, and honors.
D. REFERENCES: your application may be supported by up to three letters of recommendation. Please attach the references to your application packet. Letters should be addressed to the RAPG Committee, ArtsGreensboro, PO Box 877, Greensboro, NC 27402.
Letters of recommendation are not required.
ARTISTIC WORK SAMPLES AND SUPPORT MATERIALS
Applicants are required to submit the following artistic work sample (2 copies) for review by the panel: Artistic work samples are a critical element of your application. Applicants should prepare a well-organized presentation of the work you would like the panel to see/hear. Artistic samples should demonstrate the quality of work you produce. The artistic sample submitted must document work completed within the past 3 years as listed below for your artistic medium. Label all samples with your name, title of work and date of work.
· Visual Art – A CD containing 6 to 10 images at least 300 dpi. Labels for visual art should also include dimensions and media of work.
· Film/video – DVD 10 minutes in length
· Dance – DVD containing two (2) samples. Each sample 5 minutes in length.
· Drama – DVD containing two (2) samples. Each sample 5 minutes in length.
· Music – CD or DVD containing two (2) samples 5 minutes in length.
· Literature – Two (2) representative writing samples up to 5 pages each. Poets may submit up to 5 poems so long as they do not exceed 5 pages.
If samples are longer than the requested amount, only the requested amount will be reviewed starting at the beginning.
In addition you may also submit reviews, programs, catalogues. All applicants should write his/her name on each page and item sent.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
Submit the following to one of the participating Arts Council Offices listed on page 3.

Must be collated and written in a minimum 10pt. font. Copies should be three-hole punched and paper clipped. Do not staple or bind.
2. Two (2) sets of your Work Samples and Support.
The entire application packet must be in the office of one of the participating Arts Councils by 5 p.m. on November 16. No faxed or e-mailed applications will be accepted. Please type or print clearly. Do not alter the format of this application.
