v  Suzanne is supportive of creating a new address type

v  Josh Reidy will provide additional information concerning the Higher Education Reauthorization Act and its impact on documentation of student address

Revision of procedures for spring of 07 -

·  Maintain 5-week grace period

·  Maintain administrative withdrawal as a consequence to non-compliance

·  Expand scope of administrative withdrawal to include all 3 components of immunization policy: measles, mumps, and rubella

·  Review time line: the last day to add a class is Thursday, January 25th; a 5-week grace period will conclude on Thursday, March 1st – just prior to spring break. Consequently, final review of information and processing of administrative withdrawals will occur during spring break…does this present problems?

·  Report generation: a new frequency has been suggested – weeks 1, 2, 3: once each week; week 4: twice; week 5: daily

6.  Computer Proficiency requirement: AAC resolve on December 12th:

We will continue to work with the policy as it is currently written. Proposed changes have been placed on hold pending collaborative efforts with the State Department of Education. Networking will focus on standards for K-12 education in the areas of information literacy and technology literacy, including the new laptop initiative -please refer to website: http://doe.sd.gov/pressroom/news.asp?ID=52

Upon conclusion of discussions, AAC will revisit the policy and finalize recommendations. Regarding application of the current policy, we have 2 groups of students:

v  Incoming students: fall of 06, spring of 07

Continue with current procedures: each university is responsible for tracking, communicating, and advising.

v  Incoming students: fall of 07

Work with Admissions Module to increase precision and consistency of transcript evaluation and Colleague coding.

7.  Reading placement: New target date: spring of 08

AAC plans to establish a task force to work on procedural aspects. Based on resulting guidance, the group will construct final recommendations and forward them to the BOR for consideration at the April meeting.

8.  Implementation of R18: as noted previously, proposed dates include June 23-25. Sharon Kienow submitted a response from NSU – do any other campuses have feedback?

9.  Technology Update: Don

As a follow up to the meeting in Pierre, all universities were asked to submit information pertaining to entry of e-codes and requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP).

4.  Dr. Perry appointed a task force to address the issue of on-line student services; Matt, Sharon K, and Trudy will participate. The first meeting, held on December 6th, focused on assessment of current status through utilization of a comprehensive self-audit tool.
