Bill 1-12-S. Funding for the Organizations Alpha Tau Omega, Up ‘til Dawn, WKU Chess Club, Public Relations Student Society of America, Sigma Tau Delta, Badminton Club, WKU American Marketing Association.

PURPOSE: For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to allocate $3500.00 to these organizations.

WHEREAS:The money will come from Organizational Aid funding, and

WHEREAS: Alpha Tau Omega has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 for reimbursement of their past Conference where ten men were sent to the Emerging Leaders Conference. At this conference they are able to get ideas for community service programs and fundraising events that benefit the community, and

WHEREAS: Up ‘til Dawn has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with funding for the Up ‘til Dawn finale. Last year Up ‘til Dawn raised $140,000, and there goal for this year is $200,000, and

WHEREAS: The WKU Chess Club has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with hosting a chess playing event at WKU where kids can learn how to play chess and get involved. Also they will be hosting numerous speakers over the semester that will help teach strategy and talk about there experiences, all of which are open to the public, and

WHEREAS: Public Relations Student Society of America has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with travel expenses to the PRSSA Regional Conference which is being held at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. This is the closest the Conference has ever been and PRSSA would like to send as many members as possible, and

WHEREAS: Sigma Tau Delta has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with travel expenses for their trip to New Orleans for the English Honor Society Convention, where five students from WKU will be presenting their work, and

WHEREAS: Badminton Club has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with purchasing new equipment and simple Jerseys. They hope with this money they can reach out to even more students and be able to compete in competitions this semester, and

WHEREAS: American Marketing Association has been recommended an allocation of $500.00 to help with bringing new students in, and to help out with different PR, advertising, and marketing campaigns on campus and to give their students real experience in marketing.

THEREFORE:Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University will allocate $3500.00
