Guidelines for Use of MILES data
1. Send the completed data request form to Margherita Malanchini () for approval.
2. If approved, you will obtain your dataset from Margherita Malanchini and/or Nicholas Shakeshaft.
3. When completing the list of variables required in your data request form, please specify accurately which variables or measures you want (see MILES data dictionary http://www.projectmiles.com/research.html). For example, specify whether you want to include item-level data as well as scales; and specify collection wave that you would like data for
4. To ensure confidentiality and to comply with regulations concerning the control of these data, you should not pass on your MILES dataset to collaborators not named on the original request.
5. Approval for the use of MILES data is for one year only in order to avoid data being sequestered but not used.
6. If your project is not completed within one year, you will be asked to request an extension, and to provide a progress update, by completing an annual review form.
7. Any changes in the aims of the project, or in the focus of analysis, should be submitted for approval before you proceed. Similarly, any intention to change the lead researcher in control of the project should be submitted for approval.
8. Before submitting a paper using MILES data, please send full publication details to Margherita Malanchini, Nicholas Shakeshaft () and Kerry Schofield ()
9. When a paper is submitted, please send scripts used in the analysis to Margherita Malanchini for archiving, in order to make it possible to verify and replicate the analyses.
