"CONQUERORS -- THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS"
By: Pastor E.B. Mcambi
Scripture Reference: Romans 8:37; Revelation 12:10-11.
Introduction:
The word 'conqueror' presupposes war. One cannot be a conqueror or victorious unless he/she is in a war situation.
Yes, as Christians we are in a war, and a very serious one because -- "we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against the evil powers of darkness which are under the direct command of satan. Therefore it must be absolutely clear to every one present here that we are not in a sports field, but in a battle field. Because of that there is no room for complacency.
1. WHY IS SATAN AT WAR WITH US?
i. We rejected him and his evil kingdom when through repentance we turned to Jesus Christ for salvation. (John 1:12; Col.1:13).
ii. We are now a threat to him and his evil kingdom (Matt.4:19; Jude 1:23).
Because we are now born again children of God satan hates us and he is roaming around seeking to devour us. You know what; through Jesus "we have been made more than conquerors!"
2. THE SCOPE OF OF OUR VICTORY.
Romans 8:37 says "In all these things we are made more than conquerors". So the victory that is ours is an all-round victory. We have been promised complete victory.
i. Victory over 'Circumstances'. Like Noah (Gen.6:9).
ii. Victory over 'Handicaps'. Like Moses (Exod.3:10; 4:10-11).
iii. Victory over 'Temptation'. Like Joseph (Gen.39).
WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS --- (GOD'S SIDE OF THE DEAL).
Though as God's children we are in this fierce battle against satan and his evil forces of darkness, we thank God that He has assured us that -- "We are more than conquerors". We are more than conquerors because:
i. We are now "in Christ" We are more than conquerors not on our own strength and wisdom and experience, but through
Christ who strengthens us.
2.
ii. Jesus who is "The Captain of our salvation" (Heb.2:10) conquered Satan on the Cross of Calvary. He conquered Satan to
obtain 'eternal salvation' for us (Heb.5:9), and to obtain 'eternal deliverance and redemption' for us (Heb.9:12).
In Col.2:15 we are told that
"Jesus conquered and disarmed Satan, and made a public spectacle of him,
triumphing over him through the Cross."
Yes, as God's children we are more than conquerors. But it must be clear that we have been made thus. We have been made conquerors, not on our own strength, wisdom or experience. It is through Christ that we are more than conquerors.
iii. We are more than conquerors also because we are now "partakers of the Divine Nature" (2 Peter 1:4)
When Jesus saved you and me He performed a glorious heavenly work in us. He changed us from being vile sinners, and transformed us into 'partakers of divine nature. We are now more than conquerors because we are no longer ordinary people, but 'partakers of the divine nature.'
iv. We are 'more than conquerors' also because we are "Now standing on the Victory Ground."
When Jesus ascended to heaven after overcoming Satan on the cross, He left us His victory! When on the cross He said "It is finished." He meant that 'it was so perfectly done that there was no room for improvement.
"MORE THAN CONQUERORS" ---- (Believer’s side of the Deal).
i. Filled with the Holy Spirit.
ii. Prayer warriors.
iii. Saturated in the Word of God.
iv. Walking by faith.
v. Leading a holy life.
CONCLUSION.
It is not by mistake that we are living at this time in the history of the world. God placed us that this very time for a special purpose. It is not for us to complain that we are living at such an evil time, dark as it is because of sin, God has called us to be 'light’ (Matt.5:16). Therefore let us live victoriously for Jesus, and not be ashamed of His Cross!!!.
