PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1Scope
.1 Work Included in this Section:
.1Includes the supply and installation of the Gymnasium Divider Curtain and includes without being limited to; aluminum drive tube, motor(s), curtain, accessories, mounting fasteners, and reinforcements.

1.2System Description

1.3Quality Assurance
.1 General:
.1Equipment provided shall incorporate the manufacturers latest design improvements and materials in place as of date of manufacture.
.2Bidders shall furnish with his bid a list and clarifications of deviations from the specifications.
.2Manufacturer:
.1Shall be registered with the WSIB and safety certified at time of bid.
.2Shall be CWB certified under CSA standard W47.1 "Certification of Companies for Fusion Welding of Steel"
.3Shall be an established firm experienced in the field of gymnasium equipment.
.4Shall have no less than 5 years experience, dating from the bid date set for this project and have satisfactorily completed no less than 5 installations similar in complexity to that required here-in.
.3Warranty/Guarantee:
.1Provide a written warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of installation.
1.4Submittals
.1Shop Drawings:
.1Provide as directed under [Section 01340]; show complete details, mounting dimensions, mounting details, and any additional backing required for proper mounting.
.2Maintenance Information:
.1Provide [number] copies of the care and maintenance information for incorporation into the Project Maintenance Manuals.
1.5Product Delivery, Storage, and Handling
.1Delivery:
.1Do not deliver materials of this section until the building has been enclosed and is weather tight and dry.
.2Deliver materials of this section to suit construction schedules; ensure related trades have completed their work.
.2 Storage:
.1Materials shall be stored in a secure location provided by the General Contractor.
1.6Site Conditions
.1Building Conditions:
.1Ensure the area is neat and clean and that there are no obstructions which may affect the safety of the installers.
.2 Ensure that all related trades which affect the work of this section have completed their work.
.2Surface Tolerances:
.1Ensure that work is smooth and level and is adequately reinforced to take the loads imposed by this sections work.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1Fabrication
.1Overhead Suspension:
.1Provide custom designed mounting clamps or clips to be supported to the building superstructure at maximum [10'-0"] [3050mm] on centre.
.2Where positioning does not permit direct attachment to the building structure, Metal Fabrications Section 05500 shall provide support structure for mounting curtain system.
.2Drive Pipe:
.1Drive pipe shall be a [3.35"] [85 mm] diameter extruded 6063-T6 aluminum profile, located at mid height of divider.
.3Motor(s):
.1Shall be [880 in. lbs.] [100Nm], 14 RPM, 120V 60Hz, 3.8A tubular motor(s) featuring internal end limit switches. Number of motors provided to be determined by curtain size and weight.
.2Provide motor synchronizer box when curtain requires two motors.
.3Torque Mechanism:
.1Provide mechanism to counteract reactive torque forces from motor(s).
.4Curtain Fabrication:
.1All seams to be [2"] [50mm] single turned and placed at approximately [60"] [1525mm] on centre.
.2Bottom hem shall contain a separate enclosed hem containing the continuous ballast bar.
.3Top hem shall contain a separate enclosed hem containing the continuous hanger bar.
.5Curtain Materials:
.1Vinyl shall be heavy duty solid vinyl at [18 oz. per sq. yd.][0.61 Kg. per sq. m.] vinyl coated, heat set polyester material, flammability rated as self-extinguishing by the California State Fire Code and Class A rated in accordance with requirements of NFPA-101. Colour to be selected from manufacturer's standard colour range.
.2Mesh shall be [9 oz. per sq. yd.] [0.306 Kg. per sq. m.] vinyl coated woven polyester fabric allowing for through mesh lighting, observation, and air circulation. Flammability rated as self-extinguishing by the California State Fire Code and Class A rated in accordance with requirements of NFPA-101. Colour to be selected from manufacturer's standard colour range.
.6Accessories:

2.2Divider Curtain Assembly

- Lower half solid vinyl and upper half vinyl coated mesh
-Full height solid vinyl
-Full height vinyl coated mesh
-Lower [Specify amount] solid vinyl, balance vinyl coated mesh
.2Egress Openings:
.1End curtain [39"] [1000mm] from wall on both sides to allow for passage around curtain.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1Inspection
.1Site Dimensions:
.1Verify by obtaining actual site measurements prior to any fabrication modification, or cutting, all dimensions as required for a complete first class installation.
.2Receiving Surfaces:
.1Ensure that all receiving surfaces are smooth and level and adequately reinforced to support the work of this section; additional backing shall be provided as and where required to ensure a safe and proper installation.
.2Report any discrepancies to the General Contractor who shall have deficient work corrected immediately.
3.2Installation and Performance
.1Standard:
.1Installation to conform to the manufacturers latest approved installation methods and procedures.
.2Methods:
.1Install divider curtain systems to locations as shown on the architectural plans and in accordance with the approved shop drawings.
.2Drive system is to be securely mounted to the building structure and sway braced as required to provide a safe and quality installation.
.3 Where drive is fixed to structural components, the system shall be mounted using manufacturers recommended mounting procedures or if required, fastening devices or methods custom designed to withstand the loads imposed by the equipment which shall not affect the structural requirements of the components.
.3Structural Supports:
.1Additional structural supports to span trusses(as required) to be provided by structural trade.
.4 Electrical Wiring:
.1Electrical conduit, hook up, key switch wiring and 120V 60Hz power receptacle to be provided by electrical trade.
