PURPOSE
To recognize individuals for their value, contributions and achievement as a long term employee and to promote camaraderie among the staff of the City of Parksville.
POLICY
1. Employees with ten years of service shall be recognized at that time and every five years thereafter.
2. Long term service awards will normally be presented to employees at an annual dinner each year but may be presented at other times under special circumstances. Awards presented at the annual dinner shall be based on the length of service of the employee as of December 31st of the preceding year. Employees and spouses being honoured at the dinner shall have their dinner expenses paid.
3. Entitlement dates for all awards will be determined by the Office of Corporate Administrator and all arrangements for obtaining and presenting of the awards will be made by the Administration Secretary.
4. In recognition of the service of regular full time or part time employees years of service need not be continuous.
5. Where a cash value is indicated in the list below the award may be made in the form of a cheque, bond, gift certificate or gift,

as determined annually by the Office of Chief Administrative Officer in consultation with the Mayor; however, all awards made in the same year shall be made in the same form. Each award shall be accompanied by a certificate indicating the years of service:

10 years gift to a value of $100.00 pin, pewter mug, crystal
15 years gift to a value of $150.00 jacket with City crest
20 years gift to a value of $200.00 painting, silverware
25 years gift to a value of $250.00 watch
30 years gift to a value of $300.00 ring with City crest
35 years or longer $500.00 Savings Bond
6. The long term employment policy to be retroactive for all current employees as of this date.
