v  Notice for Parishioners who marked Earth Week 2011

A reminder that the Eco- Award for the Diocese of Kerry will be presented by Sr. Catherine Brennan, Chairperson of Eco-Congregation Ireland, on Sunday 20th. May in St. Brendan's College, Killarney, after the 10.30am. Mass in the Cathedral. Congratulations to all and looking forward to meeting you there!

Community Announcements

v  Dromtariffe ICA next meeting on Tuesday May 15th at 8.30pm in the parish Hall, the ladies of Sliabh Luachra Garden Center will attend with advice on planting and hanging baskets, everyone welcome.

v  Dromtariffe Parish Sports will take place on Friday 18th May at 6.45pm at the GAA Club in Rathcoole. We will have races and sideshows for all the family. Everyone living in the Parish or going to school in Derrinagree, Dromagh, Rathcoole and Kilcorney are welcome.

v  IRD Duhallow’s Bird Watch group invite you to the annual Dawn Chorus on Sunday 13th May 2012. Birds are the World’s most sophisticated vocal communicators and each species has it own particular song, some are simple in form and structure and others are incredibly complex. (Free of Charge). Assembly at the James O’Keeffe Institute at 4.30am sharp).

v  Join IRD Duhallow in a Guided Walk Tour (to suit all levels of fitness) and discover the beauty of the Island Wood led by Michael Doyle on Sunday May 13th 2012 @1.00pm

v  Film Launch: Sisters: Called to Serve. This short film was created by IRD Duhallow’s Saoi Network as part of the LEADER funded Memory through Media. The film reveals the stories of the young women who joined the convent in Newmarket (now the James O’Keeffe Institute, home of IRD Duhallow). They emigrated as teenagers to Australia and became the Sisters of St. Josephs. What was life like in a convent? What are they doing today over 50 years later? The screening will take place in IRD Duhallow, James O’Keeffe Institute, Newmarket on Monday 14th May @ 2.00pm

v  Derinagree National School Church Gate Collection will be held on the 26th / 27th May.

v  St. Brendan's N.S., Rathcoole: A Welcome Day for pupils beginning in September 2012 will be held on Friday, May 25th from 10.00 a.m. to 12noon.

v  Dromtariffe Ladies Football Club will hold a sponsored walk for U-12, U-14 & U-16 players. Walk will take place on Wednesday May 16th @ 7pm from GAA clubrooms to Collins Transport, returning by the same route. Funds raised will go towards reducing registration fees for these players. Please support. Any player who does not raise sponsorship will not qualify for reduction in registration fee. Any player who does not receive a sponsorship card please contact Mary on 087-7549254 who will arrange one for you.

v  Registration night for Ladies football club for all players, will take place in GAA Clubrooms on Wednesday May 16th after sponsored walk, from 8pm - 9pm. Registration Fees are as follows: U-10 €20; U-12, U-14, U-16 & Minors €40 - €20 each player and money raised on sponsorship card, U-21 & Junior players €55 - €25 each player and money raised on sponsorship card. Any player not registered, will be unable to play, as she will not be covered by injury fund.
