Business Case

Gives a student with an interest in the insurance industry the opportunity to meet and interact with professionals in the industry, gain knowledge from the educational sessions and general sessions, listen to renowned speakers and enhance their choice to consider a career in insurance.

Student Expectations

Sponsorship would include paying for expenses for the student. Student will be expected to attend the CPCU Annual Meeting events, general sessions and educational sessions.

Estimated Budget

Airfare: $300.00 (now a direct flight – United Airlines, out of Peoria)

Hotel: $200.00/day

Meals: $75.00/day

Conference registration: $650.00

Misc. expenses (taxi/shuttle): $50.00

Total expenses: approximately $1500.00-$2000.00/person

Suggest expenses be paid from the misc. chapter expenses allotment

Chapter will pay for airfare, conference registration, meals and hotel. Payment of expenses will be handled through reimbursement after returning from the meeting.

Process

·  Send letter to all university contact and chapter student mentors outlining meeting sponsorship requesting contact with Sponsorship Committee (Sample letter attached)

·  Send letter to Dr. Park (IWU), Jim Jones (ISU), U of I and Bradley University

·  Follow up with a phone call to mentors and faculty

·  Student selection options: Request students to submit application and essay

Other Misc. Details

·  Establish a chapter contact for the student for Annual meeting arrangements.

·  The sponsorship committee will make arrangements to have the student recognized in Denver.

·  The sponsorship committee will ask for feedback from the student upon returning from the meeting.

·  Allow a Central Illinois Chapter officer or committee chair the opportunity to serve as the students chaperone.

Timeline

Send communication to university/college faculty and staff by March 1, 2009

Request interest response by March 27, 2009

Committee selection by April 25, 2009 (before end of school year)

Coordinate Annual Meeting arrangements during the month of June 2009
