Position summary
ISD is currently seeking a Project Manager to help drive our latest endeavour, ISD and Google.org’s Innovation Fund to counter hate and extremism, for which ISD is the grant making body. The innovation fund will bring together technology, educators, campaigners, civil society organisations and young people to support innovative, collaborative projects operating on and offline that build the resilience of at-risk audiences to hate and extremism.
This role offers presents an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking for experience in the fields of countering violent extremism (CVE), grant making and civil society in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of the project over the course of the next year, working closely with Google.org and a wide range of UK CVE and civil society organisations.
Key responsibilities
Working closely with the senior management team, the Project Manager will be responsible for:
· Driving & maintain key relationships with partners including Google stakeholders;
· Ensuring above and beyond delivery from a core team working on grant applications, decision making and delivery;
· Managing and reconciling budgets;
· Managing the input of cross organisational subject matter expertise from ISD into the awarded projects;
· Designing and overseeing the delivery of capacity building activities where required for grantees;
· Ensuring best practice delivery of measurement and evaluation across all awarded projects;
· Managing a diverse team to bring out the best in them;
· Working with the senior team efficiently to get their input and ensure strategic leadership is embedded in the delivery of the innovation fund.
The successful candidate will be supported by:
- Grants Coordinator
- Measurement & Evaluation team
- Senior Programme Manager
- Subject matter experts in networks, counterspeech content, youth, education and broader CVE expertise.
Person specification
This role requires a motivated, self-starting professional with the ability to manage a complex and large-scale project under time pressure, coordinate the needs of a wide range of key stakeholders, effectively represent ISD externally, and take overall responsibility for effective delivery.
Essential
• Strong management experience
• First-class organisational skills
• Proven funder engagement and management
• Strong budget management experience
• Understanding of UK civil society organisations
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to take initiative and move work forward
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desirable
• Proven track record working with grant making bodies, trusts and/or foundations
• Knowledge of corporate grants management and reporting processes
• Experience writing and reporting on grants or large scale projects for private and / or state donors
• Experience managing complex and large projects involving numerous external stakeholders
• Legal experience, particularly around contracts
• Marketing and social media knowledge
