Dear Placer Miner Families,

I hope everyone had a restful and exciting summer. I am very excited to start another exciting year at Placer, and very excited to see all of the returning families, students as well as, all the new families that will be joining the Miner Team.

Important information:

Prior to the beginning of the Official start of the school year we will be having a Welcome Back BBQ sponsored by our wonderful PTC on August 8th from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. This night will give you an opportunity to view your child’s class list and visit the many tables that will feature information about the great things that happen at Placer School. You will also have the opportunity to sign up for PTC Membership, order Placer Wear, Join the Benefits App, and so much more. I really hope you are able to attend. However, if you are unable to make it, we will be posting the class lists outside the office the next day.

We will also be having our Back to School Night for TK (Transitional Kindergarten) and the K (Kindergarten) which will be August 8th from 5:30p.m. to 6:00p.m. in their classroom. I will be sending home a separate letter to explain in more detail what that process will be. We hope that after your informational night with the teachers you join the fun at the BBQ from 6p.m. – 8:00p.m.

Back to School Night: 1st – 8th grade on August 16th !

The times for this event:

·  All 1st – 4th Grades Parents at 5:30-6:15 go to your child’s Classrooms.

·  All 1st-8th Grade Parents at 6:20-7:00 everyone goes into the Gym for our All School-wide Parent information/Expectations night presented byfrom Mr. Judd – Principal, and PTC Board Members.

·  All 5th – 8th Grade Parents at 7:00 – 7:50 go to your child’s Homeroom class.

We have staggered the grade levels and times to help parents make it to their child’s classroom. will receive information regarding the Placer School policies from myself, PTC, Enrichment, and much more in the gym at 6 p.m. Then you will be excused to receive information from your child’s classroom teacher on what will be expected in the classroom from 7pm-8pm.

Our first day of school is August 10th and our goals for the first 2 days, and throughout the year, is for the staff to review the Placer School “The Miner Way Expectations!” which is to be responsible, respectful, and always Ready to learn. Teachers will be setting academic goals, asking about their interests, as well as review their classroom expectations. This will take some time but we feel this is one of the most important parts of the year which is building a relationship and knowing things about your child.

More important information:

Our school hours are from 8:20 a.m.-2:20 p.m. Our minimum days are 8:20 a.m.-11:45 a.m.

Here are a few rules we’d like everyone to follow prior to the start of each day:

·  Students who arrive before 7:50 a.m. but no earlier than 7:20 must report to the cafeteria first.

·  There is no supervision before 7:50a.m. , on the playground, or in the hallways. The cafeteria is the only place that will be supervised by a staff member. This is a privilege to help families out, and not meant for babysitting. We will expect students to use this time to read, get organized, or finish practice work. It will be a quiet zone for everyone. Please make sure that your child is aware of this policy.

·  If at all possible try and get your child, or children, here no earlier than 7:50 a.m. This is not meant for the students that are here for tutoring or assigned commitments. At 7:50 a.m. students may go out to recess until the bell rings at 8:15 a.m.
