Important: You cannot simply copy files from the CD or another installation of HeadHunter 2000 to your hard disk. You must use the Setup program to decompress and install the HeadHunter 2000 files into the HeadHunter 2000 directories.
Before You Begin Installation
Before you install HeadHunter 2000, make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements.
Hardware and System Requirements
To run HeadHunter 2000, your computer system must meet these requirements:
- Any IBM®-compatible computer with a 486 66MHz processor or higher.
- A mouse.
- 16 MB RAM.
- A hard disk with 10 megabytes of free space.
- A 3 1/2” floppy drive or a CD-ROM drive.
- VGA or higher resolution monitor.
- Windows 95 or later or Windows NT 4.0 or later
- Installed Windows fonts: Arial, Courier New and Times New Roman
Running Setup
Begin the HeadHunter 2000 installation process by running AUTORUN.EXE. If you are installing from a drive other than D, adjust the instructions accordingly.
To run Setup
- Start Microsoft Windows. Close all other Windows applications.
- Put the HeadHunter 2000 CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. HeadHunter 2000 setup should run automatically when you insert the HeadHunter 2000 CD. If HeadHunter 2000 setup does not run automatically, run the AUTORUN.EXE program on the CD-ROM.
- Setup displays a dialog telling you that it will install HeadHunter 2000 in the C:\HH2000 directory.
6.Follow the instructions on the screen.
7.Setup ends. You’ll see a Windows Start menu entry for HeadHunter 2000. You can now run HeadHunter 2000 from the HeadHunter 2000 Start menu option.
Very Important: Read and follow the instructions in the “Creating Security Recovery Files” section below to make sure you can recover if you accidentally lock yourself out of HeadHunter 2000 after setting up HeadHunter 2000’s Security tools.
What Setup Installs
HeadHunter 2000 Directories
Setup creates a \HH2Kdirectory on your hard disk with the following subdirectories and copies the HeadHunter 2000 files to these directories:
Subdirectory / Contents\DATA / Table files used by HeadHunter 2000 and applications.
\REPORTS / Report files used by HeadHunter 2000 and applications.
Creating Security Recovery Files
Setting up HeadHunter 2000 Security is a little complicated. If you’re not careful, you can lock yourself out of HeadHunter 2000 or make HeadHunter 2000’s menu disappear. If this happens to you, you will need backup copies of the following HeadHunter 2000 Security files to recover:
- Security Tools Control Table File: Shh2FCT2.DBF
- Users Table Files: Shh2SUSR.DBF, Shh2SUSR.CDX, and Shh2SUSR.FPT
You will find these files in HeadHunter 2000’s \DATA directory. Before you go any further, use the Windows Explorer to make several secure copies of these files. Store multiple copies of these file on a diskette, a secure hard drive directory, a CD, etc. Just be sure you can find a copies if you need them. Keep the copies of the files in places that only authorized HeadHunter 2000 users can reach.
Be sure to document where you stored the copies in your security control document.
Tip: Create a security control document to store important security data offline in a secure place.
If you do lock yourself out of HeadHunter 2000 or experience other security setup problems, see “User Security Mistakes and How to Recover” on page 102.
