The 2013 Executive Officers and Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) are planning the 2013 LEA Awards: A Celebration of Leadership, Education and Advocacy. The LEA Awards represent Leadership, Education, and Advocacy and are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the Southern California cable and telecommunications industry. Four Cable Executives will be honored in the following categories:
LIFETIME ACHIEVER
WOMAN OF THE YEAR
WOMAN TO WATCH
ADVOCATE LEADER
This year’s event will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California. As a current member in good standing, you have the privilege of nominating women who you feel deserve to be recognized. If you are not a current member, please take the time to visit our website, to join WICT.
Attached are the nomination guidelines, selection criteria and a nomination form. We encourage you to nominate a different person for each category, though you are not required to nominate for all categories.
The NOMINATIONS DEADLINE is June 14, 2013. All nominations must be received by e-mail.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES
2013 LEA Awards: A Celebration of Leadership, Education and Advocacy
The following are guidelines that will be used in selecting the four (4) award categories for the 2013 LEA Awards:
An “eligible candidate” is someone who meets the eligibility requirements as defined below in addition to the selection criteria outlined for each award.
1)Current Southern California Chapter Executive Officers, Directors at Large and appointed Chairs may not be nominated.
2)Nominees must be currently employed in the cable or telecommunications industry at time of nomination.
3)Nominees must be current Southern California WICT members in good standing.

4)All nominations must be received and/or postmarked by June 14, 2013.

SELECTION CRITERIA
2013 LEA Awards: A Celebration of Leadership, Education and Advocacy
WOMAN TO WATCH:
This award recognizes an outstanding industry woman who is considered a newcomer and has become accomplished and versed in both her job and in her working knowledge of the cable and/or telecommunications industry.
Eligibility:
Recipient will have been in the industry for less than 3 years
-OR-
Changed career paths/business field within the past 2 years
(i.e.: marketing to operations)
-OR-
Received a promotion within the last year to the manager level
ADVOCATE LEADER:
This award recognizes an industry man or woman who has proven leadership skills and a strong advocacy record. This individual will be recognized for his/her consistent ability to:
Champion women’s issues/causes/conditions in the workplace
Offer and encourage staff mentoring and career path support
Be an active participant in WICT and other industry associations
Eligibility:
Recipient will have been in the cable and/or telecommunications industry at least five years
Must hold a management/leadership position with his/her organization
SELECTION CRITERIA
2013 LEA Awards: A Celebration of Leadership, Education and Advocacy
WOMAN OF THE YEAR:
This award recognizes an industry woman who has had a milestone year within the last year where she has attained professional and/or personal accomplishments in the area(s) of Leadership, Education and/or Advocacy. The recipient will be highly regarded by her peers, clients, and subordinates for high levels of career achievement and quality work-life balance.
Eligibility:
Recipient will have been in the cable and/or telecommunications industry at least five years
Must be a mid-manager or above with employee supervision as a past or present career responsibility
LIFETIME ACHIEVER:
This award is the highest honor recognizing an accomplished industry woman in the areas of Leadership, Education and Advocacy. The recipient will be recognized for her professional and personal achievements throughout her career. In addition to industry longevity, this individual will be accomplished in the following areas:
Fundamental commitment to others through mentorship, career development and advocacy
Career pioneer by obtaining position(s) that are traditionally held by men and paving the way for others to follow
Setting the example of superior leadership and professionalism by achieving the support of peers and respect of her subordinates
Education through continuing participation and encouragement of staff to support WICT and other industry training opportunities
Eligibility:
Recipient will have been in the cable and/or telecommunications industry at least ten years
Must be senior manager or department head with supervision of management/ supervisory level employee
