Masan Consumer Holdings to More than Quadruples Production Capacity for its Fastest Growing Business with Commissioning of New Brewery in Hau Giang

Ho Chi Minh City, 26 December 2015 – Masan Consumer Holdings (“Masan”), the branded food and beverage subsidiary of Masan Group Corporation, today announced the commissioning of a state-of-the-art brewing facility in Hau Giang province.

The new facility, named Masan Brewery HG, is located on a 14.6 hectares site within the Nam Song Hau Industrial Zone in Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province. The current designed capacity of the facility is 100 million liters per annum of beer with plans for expansion to 150 million liters per annum at a later date. The facility has installed the latest equipment and automated lines from global suppliers to ensure consistent quality, hygiene, and superior taste.

The commissioning of the new brewing facility, which will increase Masan’s existing capacity from 50 million liters per annum to over 200 million liters per annum, is a testament to the strong momentum Masan’s beer business has been experiencing. Masan entered into the beer category in September 2014 and has since witnessed tremendous growth with its Su Tu Trang brand. The business has been operating at full production capacity for over half a year and the new facility in Hau Giang will support the growing demand for Su Tu Trang beer. In 2016, sales are forecasted to triple compared to 2015 sales. Currently, sales are strong in the Mekong Delta, Masan’s first test market, and are growing fast in the Southeast region, where Su Tu Trang was only recently launched in August 2015.

The VND1,600 billion investment is also expected to be a win-win opportunity for both Masan and Hau Giang province, including the people from the surrounding communities. Over the course of 10 years, if the facility operates at full capacity, Hau Giang province is expected to receive approximately VND14,000 billion in proceeds, from various sources such as corporate income tax, special consumption tax, and personal income tax from higher employmentin the province.

Commenting on the commissioning of the new facility, Mr. Nguyen Thieu Nam, Deputy CEO of Masan Group and Chairman of Masan Brewery, said, “The commissioning of the brewery in Hau Giang is another milestone in achieving Masan’s objective of creating Vietnam’s first national beer brand that Vietnamese consumers all over can enjoy. Masan not only wants to be a producer of quality and delicious but also a positive contributor to society by encouraging consumers to enjoy Masan’s products responsibly.”
