Speakers:

George Heitch; Milleage renewal (This is for the Operating Fund)(29% of Budget) It is $40 Million and is very necessary.

30% of families in Farmington Area have students in our schools.

We have 110-150 Classrooms in excess now.

In December the Board will decide the question of the grade configuration (K-5,6-8,9-12).

All of the teachers lost will not be from classrooms, from other special areas. With the By-outs and Layoffs we have a loss of experience in the Schools.

We have approximately 1,000 seniors to graduate and only 670 Kindergarten pupils entering the system.

Class size is approximately 30-35 students, Kindergarten at 22-26, 2-5th grade, 27.

Mayor: Roundabout on 14 mile and Northwestern will officially open on 9/21 which is about a month plus early. They are currently repairing 12 mile. He stressed the need for the renewal of the Police and Fire Departments millage.

Police: Charles Nebus; The renewal is approximately 4.5 Million. The Police and Fire Departments have 40 full time staff. Second safest city of our size in Michigan, 44th in the US. 118 Neighborhood Watch groups. Received an award as the Top Police Department. Farmington Hills is the 14th largest city in Michigan. Shared resources with Farmington and Franklin.

Fire: Corey Bartsch; Combination Department Full and Part-time personnel 5 Fire stations, only Main station is maintained 24 hours/day. 65% of calls are EMS related. Handle also Jaws of Life, Vehicle lookout, Education for schools and subdivisions. Will have Fire trucks lead parades. Have car seat help for individuals.

Responses have increased from 6,886 to 9,863 from 2009 to 2014.

Friday, Oct 2nd have Open House at the Main Station.

Spoke about the benefits of animals. Most often seen and called about: Deer, Coyotes, Bats, Groundhogs, Rabbits, Canada Geese.
