Are you in need of continuing education credits?
Is this your certification renewal year? Do you still need continuing education credits to submit? We are looking for certified paraoptometrics to write questions for the CPO, CPOA, CPOT and CPOT Part 2 and CPOC examinations. To earn one hour of CE, you must submit five questions and for two hours of CE, you must submit ten questions. If you are interested, please let me know and I will send you information for writing questions in the correct format.

November Jump Start Boot Camp
The second Jump Start Boot Camp was held on Saturday, November 19 at Smart EyeCare Center in Farmingdale. We had 14 paras who took part in the training that was led by Dr. Jessilin Quint. The day was filled with hands-on training, power point lectures and jeopardy! Here are a few responses we received:
- The information was beneficial
- Encouraged to ask questions
- Meeting wonderful people
- The constant reviews, quizzing and jeopardy
- The hands-on training
If you are new to the field, getting ready to take the CPO exam, or just want to learn more about the field you work in, then this course is for you! We plan on scheduling another full day of training this spring. Watch for future announcements.
A big thank you to Dr. Quint and the MPA members who all gave their time to contribute to this successful training.

The Maine Paraoptometric Association, Inc. Has been busy this year preparing and hosting two boot camps. They were based on the COI study guide from the AOA. They both proved successful. We’ve also been in close contact with the MOA, with potential changes for the future. This will allow us to collaborate more closely with them. You can expect Sharon Carter for our April 8th, 2017 meeting which will be held in a new location, at the Merry Manner Inn in South Portland. In the fall, we will be hosting a popular speaker, Lynn Lawrence with a location not yet confirmed.
I am on the lookout for a couple committed paraoptometrics to join or to assist us with moving our Association forward.

Here’s to welcoming 2017, another year come and gone always with the potential for improvement. Can’t wait to see everyone in the Spring!
