La Glace and District Agricultural Society

Revitalization Committee

December 14, 2013

Dear Prospective Sponsor,

The Hamlet of La Glace has always prided itself in community spirit and the ability to come together and create opportunities to thrive. We, the Agricultural Society, who owns, operates and maintains the La Glace Arena, have identified the need to replace the long cherished ice arena that has been the hub that pulls the community together for over 40 years. The original arena was built by volunteers in 1972 but has now aged and needs replacement in the near future.

A building audit was conducted early in 2013 by Field, Field and Field Architectural-Engineering Ltd which shows less than 10% of the existing facility is in acceptable condition. Another fundamental problem is the current ice surface is not regulation size which restricts the local hockey club from playing all levels of hockey. After Peewee age players must play in other communities taking away from the spirit of La Glace. Many children also quit hockey when they can no longer play for their home team.

The new facility has a projected start date of 2016. It will be built adjoining the existing curling rink. To better service a broader part of the population it includes regulation ice surface, a walking track and a spacious eating area.

The Agricultural Society has received a million dollar commitment from the County of Grande Prairie. Currently we are seeking branding rights and donations to assist us in improving our community with this exciting new multipurpose facility!

If you or your business would like to donate to our project please feel free to contact us or fill out the form on the back of this letter.

A sincere thank you for taking the time to read our letter and/or forwarding it to someone who may be interested.
