For Women In Science PhD Poster Competition Terms and Conditions

L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Ceremony – 22nd June 2016

A poster competition open to female PhD Students in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics to present their work on a poster at the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Ceremony – 22nd June 2016 at the Royal Society, London.

To apply, you will need to write a 500 word abstract and be available to present your poster on the 22nd June 17.30-21.30 at the Royal Society, London.

Applications will open on April 18th and close at 5pm on Monday 2nd May 2016. All entrants will be notified of the outcome by May 27th 2016.

Application Terms and Conditions

  1. The competition is open to all female PhD students currently studying in the UK and ROI with the exception of L’Oréal (UK) Limited employees, their immediate families, or anyone professionally connected with the promotion.
  2. To enter, entrants must complete application form including an abstract of no more than 500 words and email to 5pm on Monday 2nd May 2016.
  3. Up to a maximum of 10 applications will be selected by L’Oréal and UNESCO to present their poster to attendees of the L’Oréal- UNESCO For Women in Science Awards at the Royal Society, London.
  4. The top 2 posters as selected by a panel of Judges on the night will receive £50 in gift vouchers and a selection of L’Oréal products. All finalists will also receive a selection of L’Oréal products.
  5. All poster presenters will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on the 22nd June as a guest of L’Oréal
  6. The winners must be prepared to take part in publicity accompanying or resulting from the promotion. No additional compensation will be awarded for such promotional activities. No compensation for loss earnings will be paid by the Promoter for participation in any aspect of this competition.
  7. All personal details and/or information given in the entry form or otherwise must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify entrants if they have supplied untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information, or if it materialises that the entrant has been involved in any behaviour which the Promoter reasonably believes would bring it into disrepute.
  8. The Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to add to or waive any of these terms and conditions, or to cancel the competition at any stage, in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
  9. By entering this competition, entrants will be deemed to be bound by and have accepted these terms and conditions. The Promoter shall disqualify any entries that have failed to abide by the terms and conditions and/or are in breach of the terms and conditions.
  10. English law applies and the English courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any proceedings in connection with this promotion.
