Set: /
  1. Students will receive a copy of their transcript.
  2. Students will receive information on PSAT,PLAN and AIMS
  3. Students will log into AZCIS and complete the Interest Profiler

Procedures: /
  1. Hand out transcripts and go over each part of the transcript: GPA (difference between weighted and unweighted), credits, work in progress, class rank, and credit summary (what each part means).
  2. Discuss ways to recover credits. How to bring your GPA and class rank higher. Look for any errors.
  3. Discuss the importance of the AIMS test in relationship to graduation.
  4. Hand out information on test dates for PSAT and PLAN. Discuss the difference between the two tests and their relationship to the SAT and ACT.
  5. Have students log on to AZCIS. Go to “my career action plan” and 10th grade check list. Have students complete the Interest Profiler. Remind the students that the Interest Profiler will help them identify interests and match them with a variety of careers. It will not tell them what they should be but will organize their interests into 6 broad categories of work.
  6. When they get started advise the students to not spend too much time on any one item. Talking with their friends will not help them decide their answers.
  7. Once the students have completed the profiler put some results up on the screen so you can walk student through the results page. Show them the 6 categories and were they can find their score. Then go into one of the occupational interests and show the student all of the careers that fall under that area. Review the job title, education requirement and starting salary for AZ and if it is green job or not.
  8. Show the student that if they click on one of the jobs that it will show them an overview of the job as well as several other informational tabs.
  9. Allow students time to explore their results.
  10. Have students SAVE.
  11. Pass out there ticket out the door 3X5 cards.

Closure/Ticket Out the Door: / Have student write down their top 3 occupation interests on their 3X5 card.
