Welcome to the Rock and Pop Foundation

The Rock and Pop Foundation is newly established in the centre of Aldershot and aims to help musicians to successfully map their route into the complex world of the music industry. Their support will include innovative music programmes and a network for information, advice, jobs, education, industry links and more. The driving force of the Foundation is Steven Sammut who is also the founder of Scamps Music, one of the largest independent music schools in the UK. His education programmes have helped over 20,000 students learn to play an instrument and Scamps Musiccurrently teaches over 3,000 children a week. Steven also uses his expertise to deliver team building courses within the business sector though his company Corporate Music Development.

The Wavell-Cody Holiday Playscheme

The Rushmoor Borough Councilrun playscheme is for 4 – 11 year olds and was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in its recent inspection. The playscheme runs every school holiday, except Christmas. Arts, crafts, music, reading and jungle gym. Sessions run from 8.30am to 4.30pm (£15.00) or to 5.30pm (£16.00).

A New Badminton Clubat Farnborough 6th Form College

A new Youth Badminton Club started at Farnborough 6th Form College Sports Hall in October. The club runs on Tuesdays. 6.00pm-7.00pm for 14-16 year olds. 7.00pm-8.00pm for 16-19 year olds.

All abilities are welcome and rackets and shuttles are provided. Sessions are led by a qualified coach and cost £2.00 a session or £12.00 for 8 sessions. They include training and games and prizes.

A Rushmoor corporate badminton ladder has also just been launched. The aim of the ladder is to offer competition to employees from the Rushmoor area whilst promoting health and wellbeing within both the community and workforce and encouraging closer ties between local businesses. RHL Street Dance Classes

Street Dance is now one of the most popular forms of dance and provides a cool, fun way to keep fit. RHL’s classes are open to everyone aged 11 – 16 and are held at Wavell School, Farnborough on Mondays from 6.00pm – 7.00pm and at Connaught School, Aldershot on Tuesdays from 5.15pm – 6.15pm. PAG’s Music Arts Dance Drama (MADD) Club - Autumn 2011

Thanks to grants from Hampshire County Council and continued local support MADD is still going strong. It is for 5-18 year olds who have special needs. Siblings within the age band can also be included. At each session experienced tutors lead with the support of volunteers and a representative from PAG visits the club regularly. All have been CRB checked.

The cost for each child is £8.00 per half term. PAG want to make sure the experience is the best it can be for your son/daughter and places are limited, so please ring before coming along. The 2011 brochure for Aldershot Library and Learning Centre contains a great range of courses and regular events such as employment preparation, computers, leisure, craft and exercise. There are also specialist courses on signing for people who are deaf, numeracy, ESOL and citizenship.

In addition, a range of course discounts is now available. All employment preparation courses are free regardless of circumstances. Those in receipt of a means tested benefit only pay 50p per learning hour on most other courses.

Autism Friendly Cinema Screenings

Over 3000 people supported Autism Friendly Film Screenings at Odeon cinemas in August and the screenings will now be held monthly at cinemas around the UK. The next films will be Johnny English Reborn and Arthur Christmas. For details about your nearest cinema screening go to

When the films are being screened the lights will be on low, the volume will be turned down, there will be no trailers at the beginning of the film, you’ll be able to take your own food and drinks and you’ll be able to move around the cinema if you like. Charity Family Fun Day

Sunday 30th October from 12.00 noon to 6.00pm at Farnborough Football Club, Cherrywood Road, Farnborough GU14 8UD. SCL Holiday Activities

SCL's holiday courses offer fun for children and peace of mind for parents during the school holidays.Children aged 4-12 can enjoy action-packed days, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment in a safe and supervised environment.

SCL runClub Energy and Soccer Camps. Their OFSTED registered Club Energy childcare provision includes a combination of sport and creativity in one course. Activities include multi-sports, outdoor adventure games, indoor party games, arts and crafts, disco dancing, face paints, cookery, movies and munchies. The FA Charter Standard Soccer Camps provide expert coaching from SCL’s team of FA-qualified coaches.

Both activities run from 10.00am until 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, with the option of an extended day from 8.30am to 5.30pm. This offers working parents greater flexibility with drop-off and collection times. The venues are:Saint Augustine’s Primary School, Frimley; Frensham Heights School, Farnham; and Velmead Junior School, Fleet.
