Vacancy: Social Studies Teacher
Minimum requirements:
Valid State of Michigan Secondary Teaching Certification with Social Studies (CX or RX) endorsement plus an additional endorsement in a second subject area.
Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the Michigan Department of Education
Support and participate in all district and building level school improvement initiatives and plans
Ability to serve in a teacher leader capacity when required
Ability to differentiate instruction for students of varying ability while maintaining high academic rigor and expectations for all students
Ability to use technology to enhance instructional practice, innovation, learning, collaboration and sharing
Ability to develop and implement curriculum, instruction and a balanced assessment model in the classroom that meets or surpasses MDE and District determined benchmarks, standards and recommendations
Ability and knowledge to manage student behavior and implement appropriate classroom behavior intervention plans
Ability to develop strong supportive parent/guardian relationships
Ability to complete all paperwork, reporting deadlines and interface with various stakeholders as required for all students
Attend all recommended training and professional learning experiences
Preferred Requirements:
Second Highly Qualified subject area endorsement in: English (BA) or Science (DX) or Mathematics (EX) or Spanish (FF) or Music Education (JX or JQ)
A master’s degree in an education related field of study
Experience teaching Honors and/or AP courses
Experience serving in a teacher leader capacity
Experience with the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework
