Why Am I Here

Linda McNeil has always enjoyed doing hair in which she made it a goal to obtain her license. As a little girl, Linda would play with dolls and she enjoyed combing, washing, and braiding thedolls hair. As Linda got older, she began to do hercousin’s and neighbor’s hair. People would encourage Linda to go to school so that she could learn to enhance her gift.At first, Linda was unsure; however, she decided that it was time to make it happen and become a licensed hair stylist.

Linda became motivated to become a part of this industry when she got tired of doing hair at her home. Mrs. McNeil wanted to become more knowledgeable when it comes to the anatomy of the scalp and the hair. She knew the only way to accomplish this would require her to enroll into a cosmetology school. Linda wanted to provide a better quality of service to her clients. Mrs. McNeil’s interest resided in providing her clients with strong healthy hair and wanting to teach her client how to maintain healthy hair. Linda enjoyed seeing her client’s facial expression after she would do their hair and enjoyed watching their self- esteem increase. In return, this caused Linda to stay motivated. As people, when we look good we also feel good about ourselves.

Mrs. McNeil became inspired to attend cosmetology school by her family. They would always encourage her to go school and perfect her gift of doing hair. Many years ago Linda had attended cosmetology school; however, she stopped after a change in career fields. Linda’s passion for doing never left her. Linda then decided it was time to return back to school. Mrs. McNeil started off part time due to working a full time job. When Linda told her mother she had enrolled into school, she was proud of her. Mrs. McNeil’s cousin had received her license to do hair in 1990. Once she received her license, Linda realized that she could accomplish this too. Currently, Linda’s cousin is still doing hair and is very successful.

Once Linda becomes a licensed professional, she wants to open up her own Beauty and Barber Shop. Linda wants to recruit ambitious individuals who are motivated to one day own their own shop. Mrs. McNeil wants to contract with nursing and funeral homes. Linda wants to offer opportunities for her stylists and barbers to go into nursing homes to do their hair and give them a make-over. When it comes to the funeral homes, Linda would like to do hair and make-up of the deceased clients. In order to be successful in this business, one must become knowledgeable of all aspects of this field.

Mrs. McNeil plans to impact the younger generation by providing scholarships to those who want to pursue a career as a hair stylist or barber. Linda always encourages young people to get a trade underneath their belt if they are not ready to attend a university. In this way, an individual has options when it comes to employment. Later on in life, the individual may decide to go to a community college or a university but at least they will always have a trade.Linda reminds individuals to put God first and he will give you the desires of your heart. Linda impacts others by reminding them to stay ambitious and to maintain a great work ethic.
