Profile

Born in 1961. Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood Ansari received his early education from well reputed educational institutions of Multan city.He got his MSc degree in the subject of Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry (securing First Class and distinction) from the Department of Chemistry, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, in 1985. He joined BZU in 1986 as Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry. In 1990, He was awarded ICSC -World Laboratory Fellowship for Pre-Doctoral Studies at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. He successfully carried out advanced research work in the area of Electrothermal Atomisation Atomic Absorption Spectrometry under the supervision of Philips Professor David Littlejohn. In 1996, he joined the University of Aberdeen in Scotlandas PhD Research Scholar under COT Scholarship Scheme of Government of Pakistan where he received his Ph. D. in Environmental Analytical Chemistry in 1999 under the supervision of renowned Environmental Analytical Chemist Dr. I. L. Marr. He performed “Hajj” in 2000 and then returned to Pakistan and resumed his duties at the Department of Chemistry, BZUand was selected asAssociate Professor of Analytical Chemistry in 2001 and then elevated to the rank of Professor of Analytical Chemistry in 2002.He had the honor of being the youngest Professor appointed at BZU. In 2013, He was selected as Professor of Analytical Chemistry on Tenure Track System. He was appointed as Director Academics-BZU in 2010 and Director, Institute of Chemical Sciences in 2014.He assumed the charge as Dean, Faculty of Science in 2015. He has over 30 years of postgraduate teaching and research experience at University level to his credit. He has produced more than 3000 Chemistry Graduates and Postgraduates at BS, MSc, MPhil and PhD levels. He has supervised 03 PhDs, 40 MPhil and 106 MSc research students. A significant number of PhD and Mphil scholars are also working under his supervision. He is the Chairman, Board of Studies in Chemistry and the Prospectus Committee. He is Member of the Senate, Academic Council, Board of Faculty (Science), Admission committee, Equivalence Committees of BZU. He has published 110 research papers in research journals of National and International repute. Prof Ansari has been cited more than 1000 times (source: Google Scholar, Scopus & Researchgate) in the scientific literature. He is HEC Approved PhD Supervisor.Professor Ansari is Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, the Chemical Society of Pakistan and Zoological Society of Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Ansari has attended more than 80 International and National Conferences, Symposia, Seminars, Workshops etc. and has won several Medals and Awards.
