Stanwood, WA —Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE Sky Theatre in Stanwood announces its production of Disney’s Cinderella Kids.

The timeless fairy tale meets the magic of Disney in this adaptation of the treasured animated film, featuring everyone’s favorite characters wonderfully recreated for the stage. With a beautiful score including “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and the classic “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” this musical will charm its way into your heart and remind you that dreams really can come true.

Disney’s Cinderella Kids will be performed by an ensemble cast of 53 local young performers age six to 16. The majority of these young performers are from the Stanwood and Camano area, with some hailing from the communities of Arlington, Marysville and Snohomish. The artistic and production staff consists of students working alongside professionals to create a collaborative and educational experience.

Disney’s Cinderella Kids is directed by Kati Nickerson (director of youth education for Village Theatre), choreographed by student choreographers, John Farrey and Tara Smith, with music direction by Corre Tocco.

“Our unique take on Disney’s Cinderella Kids is highly inventive and the result of an engaging and collaborative process involving the entire cast,” said Nickerson. “We are not just telling kids where to go, what to say and how to say it. Each rehearsal is a laboratory for developing character through improvisations and exploring the meaning behind each scene.”

Many of the teen creative and production team have been KIDSTAGE students since they were five or six years old. John Farrey and Tara Smith (co-choreographers), Julia Kinnenun (stage manager) and Mauri Zingarelli (production assistant), for example, have over 40 years of combined theatre experience.

“The kids are just great! The work they are doing is top notch,” added Nickerson. “Their previous experience in KIDSTAGE programs really shows!”

Disney’s Cinderella Kids will be at Stanwood High School Performing Arts Center March 24-26, 2006. For more information or to request interviews, please contact Jacquelyn Rardin at (425) 392-1942 x124 or at .
