-- Profile of DAI-Labor

--

The DAI-Labor (http://www.dai-lab.de) and the chair for agent technologies in business applications and telecommunication (AOT) of the Technische Universität Berlin (Technical University of Berlin) work in the fields of

·  fundamental research in agent based technologies

·  development of agent based frameworks

·  agent oriented software engineering

·  co-operation protocols

·  ontology languages and ontology based engineering

The JIAC project, which is a co-operation of the DAI-Labor and the Deutsche Telekom AG, is developing a framework for the efficient realisation and deployment of intelligent, secure, and manageable agent-based services and applications. JIAC contains a scalable architecture for the realisation of different types of agents as well as a runtime environment which is supported by an extensive security and management infrastructure.

We are already applying the JIAC framework for several information filtering problems, being an intelligent recommender system for holiday planning and personal information management. Within the project PIA (Personalised Information Agents) a personalisable information service for business clients is developed. This service provides the user with selected information depending on context, situation, time, location, and profile, e.g. with news in the morning, business-related information during work, and information about leisure activities in the evening.

Within the context of another activity, the JIAC framework is prepared for the security certification by the BSI (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik).

In the JIAC project, an agent-oriented software engineering approach is developed and a wide range of tools for the support of the software engineering process are made available.
