Position Title:Education & Workforce Development Intern
Job Description:The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) seeks Education & Workforce Development Interns to assist in the planning and delivery of comprehensive, experiential STEM and workforce development/career awareness programming for students in grade 4 through 10, with a focus on manufacturing, engineering, sustainable energy, and/or aerospace-related curricular areas. Interns will be responsible for program coordination, administration and logistics, as well as working directly with students in both formal and informal classroom settings implementing contextual hands-on activities and workshops.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the testing of hands-on investigations for education and training purposes;
- Assists in the development and maintenance of online surveys, resources, and activities;
- Assists with research related to STEM education and workforce development grant efforts;
- Assists in the compilation, analysis, and summary of program assessment data;
- Assists in the planning and coordination of programs and events;
- Assists in the recruitment of and follow-up with participants and partners for programs, events and meetings;
- Assists in the setup, facilitation, and breakdown of programs, events, and meetings;
- Assists in the procurement of hands-on supplies, food, and other materials for programs, events, and meetings;
- Assists in the organization and inventorying of materials and supplies; and
- Assists with administrative tasks related to education and workforce development initiatives
Job Qualifications:
- Education:Candidates will be pursuing a BS/BA in either one of the following content areas: engineering, manufacturing technology, science, or computer programming; or a STEM-related teaching degree (middle school or high school teacher preparation program).
- Experience:Prior experience with CAD/CAM software platforms, 3D printing, and/or robotics a plus.
- Skills:Excellent computer, organizational, and communication skills; a strong desire to learn; an interest in K-12 STEM education and/or career awareness/outreach; an ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously.Must fulfill ITAR citizenship requirements.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Continually communicates with individuals and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionallyworks in varying conditions. Generally moderate noise environment (business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
