Job/Role Profile: CMMProgrammer
Report to: Quality ManagerRole Objective
The role of a Quality CMM Programmer is to ensure that robust and accurate CMM programs are generated for all NPI components (BCW machined componentsIncoming material/components),to meet the programme milestones.
Taking a lead role in CMM fixture design to support the measurement of parts on the CMM
Responsible for introducing work instructions and providing training to ensure effective use of the CMM program/machine by quality, engineering & production personnel.
Responsible for maintaining and improving current CMM programs to reduce downtime & improve efficiency within the first off & last off process.
Responsible for reviewing new design (CAD & 2D Drawings) with the Quality & Engineering team & devise measurement strategies to accurately validate components against all GD&T requirements.
Ensure the CMM machines are maintained to ensure high level of accuracy of measurement through TPM.
Technical development of CMM Programmer & Inspectors.
Provide measurement & technical support to Engineering & Production team during PPAP process, including generating dimensional reports & approving parts for manufacture.
Provide measurement & technical support to Engineering & Production team when deviations are detected and work together on a positive resolution.
Ensure all measurement equipment is calibrated & periodic MSA studies are carried out for all measurement methods used.
Support SPC analysis with the use of the CMM with engineering & quality team.
Specific Responsibilities
Support the management of all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team
>Ensure inspection disciplines adherence to the Quality Management system (QMS) and are effective for the business
- Carry out 1st off/ Last off inspections
- Monitor/ Patrol (Physical/First hand) in process inspections
- Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable goods/processes
- Ensuring that all measurement equipment is registered calibrated and maintained.
- Calibrated on time of due date
>Perform regular quality checks of components using manual, electronic measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, verniers)
Liaise and effectively communicate with internal and external colleagues to resolve quality issues.
- Prompt and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards
- Support root cause analysis
- Support Permanent correct/preventative validation
> Undertake training in
- Lean methodologies (5S/ Lean Six sigma)
- Lean tools used for continuous improvement and elimination of waste.
Take an active role in meetings and problem solving activities such as:

Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or ONC, A Levels, BTec Diploma Level 3 or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification
Training certificates in Quality (ISO, Gage Metrology, Geometric Dimension and Tolerance SPC)
