FFA Members Earn Master of Beef Advocacy Award

OKLAHOMA CITY —Ten FFA members received the Master of Beef Advocacy Award during the 92ndOklahoma FFA ConventionMay 2.

Award winners are Daniel Craig of Hulbert FFA, Ryan McConnell of Moss FFA, Cheyenne Blevins of Cave Springs FFA, Kayla Wolfe of Claremore FFA, Nicole Duke of Copan FFA, Alex Morgan of Konawa FFA, Luke McEndoo of StillwaterFFA, Cheyenne LaFleur of Granite FFA, Kaylee Bowman of Grove FFAand Dillon Huff of Wynnewood FFA. These Oklahoma FFA members earned this honor by participating in the MBA program and curriculum.

The Oklahoma Beef Council, through the Beef Checkoff, has an innovative approach to teaching FFA members and advisers about advocating and promoting the agricultural industry.

“One of the best places to connect with consumers and share the story of the beef community is through social media,” said Heather Buckmaster, executive director of the Oklahoma Beef Council. “This generation of young people is most comfortable using this platform to spread the word about animal agriculture.”

This online training program is designed to equip beef producers, industry allies and young agriculturalists with the information needed to be advocates for the beef industry.

Craig and McConnell were the grand winners andreceived$300 gift cards from the Master of Beef Advocacy sponsor, the Oklahoma Beef Council. All other winners received $150 gift cards.

FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education division in the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.
